Health Education Council

Health Education Council The mission of the Health Education Council is to cultivate health and well-being in under-served communities by leveraging the power of collaboration.

For the past 30 years, the Health Education Council has focused primarily on:

• eliminating preventable causes of death resulting from the use of tobacco, poor nutrition, and lack of physical activity

• operating public health programs nationwide to meet the needs of diverse, underserved communities

• working proactively and collaboratively to ensure individuals are empowered to live a healthy

life;

• representing diverse staff, community partners and stakeholders to better serve communities who otherwise do not have a voice for care, or access to healthy environments

Meet our keynote speaker for the 3rd Annual Workforce Development Symposium: Dr. Torence Powell

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Torence Powell, Chancellor of the Los Rios Community College District, as the keynote speaker for this year’s symposium.

As a pivotal partner in building a sustainable and equitable workforce in our region, Dr. Powell brings valuable perspective to the conversation about education, workforce development, and opportunity.

Hear from Dr. Powell and other leaders from across the region and country on Friday, September 11, as we explore how we can create stronger pathways to opportunity and build healthier, more equitable communities.

We enjoy starting our Sunday morning with movement, fresh air, and new friends!

In partnership with Alchemist CDC, we hosted our weekly Walk with Friends at the Meadowview Farmers Market, bringing together nearly 100 community members for a morning of physical activity, connection, and fun.

Walkers enjoyed a morning walk, activities, and a market voucher to help purchase fresh produce! We love seeing our community come together to get active and support healthy living.

🥕 Cooking healthy, budget-friendly meals and building community!

We wrapped up our two-part nutrition and cooking series with a friendly cooking competition! Using fresh, affordable ingredients, community members prepared simple, healthy dishes while learning more about making nutritious meals at home.

And while it was a “competition,” participants were eager to help and encourage one another along the way. We’re proud to promote healthy eating while creating opportunities for connection and support.
