A Message to our Village:

As parents and caregivers, it is essential that we instill values such as kindness, responsibility, and fairness in our children. One of the most impactful lessons we can impart is the significance of engaging in our democracy by exercising our right to vote.

As we approach election season, let us remember that our votes are not just for ourselves, but for the generations that will follow. The actions we take today will shape the future we leave behind. As Matshona Dhilwayo wisely said, “The seeds we plant today determine the harvest you reap tomorrow.”

📢 Is it time to renew or upgrade your Child Development Permit?

The Child Development Training Consortium (CDTC) has opened its Child Development Permit Stipend application for the current program year!

Funding is limited and applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, so don’t wait to apply.

The stipend may help eligible applicants with the application fee for new permits, renewals, and upgrades. All information about permit applications, renewals and upgrades can be found here:

Early literacy—developed from birth through age five—is crucial for brain development, fostering language, cognitive, and social-emotional skills that predict future academic and life success. Our friends at Sesame Street in Communities have created an interactive course that explores key literacy goals, strategies, and activities to learning around language and literacy.

Join Sacramento Black Child Development Institute - BCDI and Natomas Black Parents United as we kick off the Early Start Family Academy. There will be activities for toddlers through school age children as well as culturally responsive singing, reading and free books. Come to North Natomas Regional Park on Friday, June 12th from 6 pm to 8 pm.
