Finished! I took out the prehistoric dinosaur and bird and replaced with the bonus penguin design. Moved the pigeons, added a harlequin macaw, and fudged the landscape to get it all in.

REMINDER: May General Meeting Location Change

Camellia Chapter's May general meeting is Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 6:30 pm (socializing begins at 6:15 pm). The meeting will be held at the Fair Oaks Library, 11601 Fair Oaks Blvd, Fair Oaks, CA.

For our May program, we will be learning Laotian Embroidery from one of our members. She will be teaching the Lao Mien style of embroidery, which uses three main stitching techniques (cross, grid, and weave) to create colorful and complex motifs.

For generations, weaving and embroidery have been central to life in Laos. Rather than recording their history in writing, the Lao people wove their stories into vividly colored textiles, adorned with distinctive patterns inspired by local legends and cultural beliefs. In the past decade, traditional textile arts in rural Laos have experienced a vibrant revival.

The Camellia Chapter April general meeting will be at 6:30 pm on April 21, 2026. This meeting will be ZOOM ONLY. Please email the Chapter for the Zoom codes to attend.

Our April program will be a lecture by Dawn Donnelly on Stitching Diagonally, that delves into the inspiration behind Dawn’s decision to write and self-publish her book, “Transformative Stitching: Needlework on the Diagonal”. This lecture celebrates her passion for this unique stitching technique. Learn how to overcome any intimidation you might feel toward diagonal stitching, learn how to rotate stitches, and gain the confidence to create your own stunning “transformations.” Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced stitcher, this session is designed to inspire and empower you.
