In October, Chapter member Pat Godlove will be teaching the annual holiday stocking. The pattern is Geometric Butterflies by Patricia Mazu. This final program for 2026 is a perfect finish for our Chapter’s 50th anniversary. The holiday stocking is Geometric Butterflies, golden butterflies with metallic accents. This will be a stitch-from-stash project. Email [email protected] if you'd like a copy of the holiday stocking pattern.

In addition to the stocking, Chapter member Kristin Jakobson will be giving a lecture on The Great Tapestry of Scotland. The Great Tapestry of Scotland is housed in the city of Galashiels, Scotland, in the Museum of the Great Tapestry. The statue pictured greets all visitors as you enter the Museum.

Camellia Chapter celebrates their 50th anniversary! Using DMC’s Camellia pattern, the Chapter based their yearly President’s Challenge around it, inviting members to add their own flair to the design to reference the 50th Anniversary.

In August, the Chapter held a celebratory gathering, showing off their anniversary stitching projects and sharing stories and trivia about their history. There were 33 people in attendance, including several former members and two charter members, and a dessert bar for members to enjoy as they shared fond memories. Each stitcher also received a goody bag. One fun fact: the Chapter’s original Second Vice-President, Cindy Magness, is still a member and usually attends meetings via Zoom!

I got my Ikea pegboard wall set up (with help from my son-in-law). Now I have my silks arranged by color family, a few fabrics, current projects, display shelf, and a few magazines.

Seminar 2026 in Ashland, Oregon, was a huge success! I stitched, hung out with my stitching buddies, and saw amazing needlework displays. I took a Harlequin class from Terri Bay and am sharing my bit of progress along with the teacher's model. I learned so much about pulled thread work in this class and am looking forward to finishing this project.

Save the date for 2028! The 2028 seminar will be held in Sacramento, California, from July 15-19, 2028, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Sacramento.

REMINDER: July General Meeting Location Change
Camellia Chapter's July general meeting is Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 6:30 pm (socializing begins at 6:15 pm). The meeting will be held at the Fair Oaks Library, 11601 Fair Oaks Blvd, Fair Oaks, CA.

For our July program, we will be learning Swedish huck weaving. Swedish huck weaving involves weaving thread through the fabric fibers and is often used for towels. Because of the way the pattern is woven, no thread shows on the back of the fabric. The kit includes the huck weaving fabric and bent tip needle (there will be a few extra kits available for purchase at the July meeting). Bring your favorite thread to stitch – pearl cotton #5 or #8, DMC floss, crochet cotton #10, or any similar weight thread.

Camellia Chapter EGA Partners With Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento (Habitat) is building a 26-home neighborhood in Citrus Heights, California, that will provide stable, affordable housing for nearly 120 individuals, including children, creating new opportunities for families to build brighter futures.

On June 6, 2026, Habitat dedicated the first eight homes in this development. Camellia Chapter provides personalized, framed samplers for each new homeowner, featuring the Habitat logo, the family name and the date of the home dedication. Camellia Chapter has been providing samplers for Habitat home dedications since 2011.

This event marks the first of three dedication ceremonies for Habitat’s Citrus Heights development — the largest affordable housing community in the organization’s history.
