We are proud to have Katie Lacey representing CCA in the National Cattlemen's Beef Association's Young Cattlemen's Conference (YCC) this year.

Over the past week, Katie has traveled across Colorado, Iowa/South Dakota, Ohio, and Washington, D.C., gaining a firsthand look at every segment of the beef supply chain while learning how grassroots advocacy helps shape policy affecting cattle producers nationwide.

The tour is wrapping up in our nation's capital with visits on Capitol Hill, followed by the YCC Cattle Political Action Committee (PAC) Auction. Katie has secured the donation of a RARE, LIMITED-EDITION 1000X Resistol 250th Anniversary of America 1776 hat (yes, the same style seen here worn by President Trump)! 🇺🇸

Proceeds from the auction help ensure cattle producers have a strong voice in Washington, D.C., and that elected officials understand the issues impacting our industry.

‼️ YOU can take home this one-of-a-kind hat while supporting cattle industry! Contact the CCA office at (916) 444-0845 by 2 p.m. California time on Thursday, June 4, and we'll connect you with Katie Lacey so you can place your bid and support the PAC.

Congratulations, Katie, on earning your YCC pin and becoming a YCC graduate! We're proud of the leadership and dedication you've shown while representing California's cattle industry.

The California Wolf Project is an initiative within the University of California Berkeley’s Wildlife Program. In our latest Sorting Pen: The California Cattleman Podcast episode, the leaders of the project and principal investigators Dr. Arthur Middleton and Dr. Justin Brashars explain how this project got started, the people behind it, and what the project is and isn’t focused on.

This is the first episode of two on The California Wolf Project. Part two, dropping on May 18, will sort through how the team is collecting research, who they’re collaborating with, what they’re seeing so far, what’s ahead, and how it all fits into the bigger picture. We’ll also discuss some of the very real challenges California ranchers are facing with wolves today.

On this episode of Sorting Pen, we’re joined by Dr. John Madigan, best known for developing the Madigan Squeeze Procedure.

In this conversation, Dr. Madigan walks us through this simple yet groundbreaking technique used to treat neonatal maladjustment syndrome (often called “dummy foal syndrome”), and how it’s now being applied to calves as well. We cover why it works, how it can be used on the ranch, the research behind it, and more.

If you heard Dr. Madigan speak at our Convention last December, this episode builds on that discussion. And if you didn’t, it’s a great introduction to a practical tool that’s making a real difference in the field.
