💗 Showing up for a cause that touches so many of us.

On Sunday, October 11, Mother Members of the Savvy Sacramento Chapter volunteered as finish line greeters for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk at Hornet Stadium at Sacramento State.

Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women in the U.S., and its impact hits close to home for members of our chapter. We were proud to welcome walkers, cheer them on, and stand alongside a community united in raising awareness and supporting those affected by breast cancer.

For the survivors, the fighters, the loved ones we carry with us, and everyone working toward a cure, we walk with you. 💗

🎬 That’s a wrap on the Oak Park Film Festival!

Our Visionaries had a great day celebrating Black storytelling and the filmmakers bringing these stories to life.

The day began with St. HOPE CEO Cassandra Jennings and Councilmember Rick Jennings discussing the importance of civic engagement and the upcoming midterm elections.

Our teens then watched three short films by African American directors, participated in a panel discussion moderated by our very own Associate Mom, Courtney Dempsey, and voted for the Viewers’ Choice Award. They also had the opportunity to connect with filmmakers and actors and hear more about the stories behind the films.

We love seeing our Visionaries engage with the arts, learn from creatives in our community, and experience the power of Black storytelling. 🩷🩵

Savvy Sacramento is back! 🩷🩵

After a summer break, our mothers reunited for our August Retreat, refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to step into a new program year.

This year, we’re embracing a theme that reminds us that the work we do matters, but so does making space to REST, RESTORE & JOY.

Before looking ahead, we paused to recognize the incredible women among us whose leadership and service have earned regional and national honors.

🩷 Lead Teen Advisor Kia Robinson | Far West Region Regional Director’s ELITE Award (Mother of the Year)

🩵 Chapter Treasurer Camille Akpulonu | Far West Region Financial Reporting Excellence Award and Financial Progress Award

🩷 Chapter Program Director Kavisa Wood | National Award for Superior Program Handbook

Please join us in celebrating these phenomenal mothers! Their accomplishments reflect the excellence, dedication, and leadership that continue to make Savvy Sacramento shine.

We’re grateful for the women who make Savvy Sacramento what it is, from our grade group moms to our teen and senior moms. There’s nothing like coming back together, catching up, celebrating one another, and getting ready for another year of doing what we love.

Here’s to a year of rest, restoration, joy, purpose, and making some great memories together! 🩷🩵
