Sunday, August 16th, 11:00 AM - In Vajrayana Buddhism, we are looking for certainty. Real Certainty is the Lion’s Roar! Real certainty is a passionate yes to love, to life, to joy. When you truly love someone, you wouldn’t say, “Let’s stay together in don’t-know mind.” No! Certainty is passionate. Certainty celebrates the love that is life itself.
“Don’t-know mind” is often offered as an answer to questions such as: Why are we here? Who is practicing? There is value in not becoming trapped by fixed concepts. But that is different from remaining perpetually uncertain.
Then there is the Western philosophical tradition of skepticism—an intelligent, and at time sense of cool detachment. Vajrayana points us somewhere else. It invites us toward a certainty that is alive, intimate, courageous, and wholehearted.
This is not certainty about controlling what will happen next. It is certainty born from recognizing what is true Real certainty does not stand apart from life. It says yes to it.
