The Oak Park Fix-It Cafe is a community collaboration intended to help build and empower our community by connecting neighbors to repair and maintain bicycles, clothing, household items, and more. The Fix-It Cafe:
- Takes place on the second Saturday of each month from 11:00 am - 2 pm.
- Has five areas of focus to start:
1. Sewing help, clothing repair, hemming, etc.
3. lamps, vacuum cleaners,
etc.)
4. Hospitality: a cafe area to sit, relax, and enjoy a simple cup of free coffee and snacks with your neighbors.
5. Kids' Corner: an area for kids to have fun while their parents or guardians participate in the other areas
- Our goal is not to have a place where people simply drop things off for repair, but an opportunity for people to get help with repairs and maintenance while learning those skills themselves. You might be learning to repair your bike one month and using those same skills to help other neighbors the next! Finally, and most importantly, we need all the help we can get!
