Congratulations JR.

One of our job seekers asked for support in completing a CDL Training. He came with a degree in Japanese Language and Culture and He is also a master carpenter. He determined that truck driving would be a good fit. We signed him for a class and he completed, in fact was used as support in the class for struggling students. He graduated and tried a couple of trucking companies that did not work out. Today, he sent a picture of his new job that he loves. It allows him to drive local and provide support for his family.

He has helped Pivot several times using his many computer skills, including creating a fill in of the tuition packet we use today and have shared with our partners and other fill in forms.

Thank you for being a part of the Sipping Tea for Black Women’s Wellness and the See Her Bloom Community.

We wanted to share the attached Call for Stories flyer in the hopes that you will share with your friends, family, and networks. We’re asking for story submissions from people with lived experience and who have been impacted by the disparities that exist when it comes to Black women’s mental health and substance use and misuse. The submission process is brief and easy and available on our website here: https://seeherbloom.org/submit/. Women who submit stories that are accepted and published will receive a $250 stipend.

Please help us to disseminate this invitation far and wide. We are happy to answer any questions that you or others may have about the submission process.

We also invite you to stay tuned for Season 2 of the Sipping Tea Podcast. Episode 5 will drop on April 14 as part of our . If you haven’t had a chance to do so, listen and subscribe to the Podcast here or wherever you stream your podcasts. Your help to expand our audience and engage more women with the Sipping Tea community is very welcomed!

Finally, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any ideas, feedback that can help us strengthen our programming and the impact that we are hoping to achieve. Your partnership is critical to making lasting change and impact.

Warm regards,

✨ 429 Job Seekers. One Powerful Day. ✨

Yesterday at Pivot Sacramento’s Ready, Set, Hire! Hiring Event, we welcomed 429 community members through our doors — each one showing up ready for opportunity.

Employers conducted on-the-spot interviews, extended second interviews, and began making job offers that will translate into real wages, real stability, and real impact for families in our region.
We are deeply grateful to our employer partners who stayed beyond the scheduled end time to ensure every candidate in line had a chance to be seen. That level of commitment matters.
This is what workforce development looks like when community and industry show up for each other.

If you missed this one, don’t worry — we’ll be back on Wednesday, April 15th in collaboration with the Sacramento LGBTQ Community Center.

Sacramento is ready.
Sacramento is qualified.
Sacramento is hiring.
