This past Friday, the Capitol LGBTQ Association had the privilege of hosting another incredible Lunch & Learn featuring Terry Schanz, Chief of Staff to Assemblymember McKinnor, and Grayson Doucette, Chief of Staff to Assemblymember Schiavo. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this conversation so meaningful. ⭐️

Terry and Grayson shared their unique journeys into public service, offering candid insights on building a career in the Capitol and navigating Sacramento’s political landscape as members of the LGBTQ+ community. Their stories were a powerful reminder that authenticity, resilience, and community are essential to creating more inclusive spaces in government. 💜

We are deeply grateful to our speakers for sharing their experiences and to our Capital LGBTQ Association community for continuing to show up, engage, and foster a space where we can learn from one another. 🌈

Future LGBTQ+ leaders in action! 🌈👏

Yesterday, our CQA and Equality California Fellows took over the committee room for a mock hearing, stepping into the roles of legislators and committee members to experience the bill process firsthand.

Following weeks of research, bill analysis, and preparing the materials that keep committee hearings running smoothly, they put their skills to the test. Huge congratulations to our incredible fellows!

Thank you to everyone who joined this year’s Capitol LGBTQ Association’s 7th Annual Pride Celebration at Darling Aviary!👠

This night was filled with so much love and unity with the support we have received from our beloved capitol community who have made this annual celebration possible. We are able to continue our work because of all of you that continue to show up!

We want to thank our amazing drag performers Unieke Moore 💋 and ROSE ROWZAY! They were the glamour of the night giving us the most fiercest performances on the runway! 👠⭐️

Lastly, we want to thank our amazing sponsors who make our work possible every year to support our LGBTQ community in the Capitol and the greater Sacramento area.
