Our response to Governor Newsom's Proposed Budget ⬇️

As California’s cost of living crisis expands, the January budget zeroes out key affordable housing and homelessness programs.

The housing coalition urges the Administration to work with the Legislature in the coming months to restore resources in the budget for affordable housing and homelessness. This budget is essential to keeping vulnerable Californians housed in our rural, Tribal and farmworker communities.

The Affordable Housing Bond Act of 2026 is the next step California needs. It places a $10 billion bond on next year’s ballot — allowing voters to support the production and preservation of affordable housing for lower-income households.

Two housing bonds — both with the same name and the same goal — are moving through the Legislature this year. Their passage is critical to help every community build more of the safe, affordable homes Californians need.
