“It’s the same thing in our lives today and it’s the same thing in our gospel lesson. ‘Do you want to be made well?’ ‘I have no one to put me in the pool.’ ‘But, do you want to be made well???’ ‘Jesus, the lines here are terrible, have you seen these lines?’ ‘But do you want to be made well???’ ‘All of these other people are faster than me, and they cut in line!’ And yet, Jesus is standing there, compassion in his eyes waiting for us to fall silent so that he can say ‘take up your mat and walk...’”
