SB 881 just passed the California Legislature unanimously! We're proud to co-sponsor this bill with California Food Banks.

SB 881 extends the Farmer to Food Bank Tax Credit, helping California farmers donate surplus food to food banks instead of sending it to waste. Less food in landfills, more food on tables, and a tax credit for the farmers doing the right thing.

Thank you Senator Jerry McNerney for your leadership on this. Now it heads to the Governor's desk.

Reducing food waste is climate work; feeding people is community work. This bill does both.

Thank you to Assembly Appropriations Chair Buffy Wicks and Senate Appropriations Chair Senator Sabrina Cervantes for supporting CAW's four sponsored bills, AB 762 ( Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin ) , SB 881 ( Senator Jerry McNerney ), AB 2253( Assemblymember Tasha Boerner ), and AB 1604 ( Assemblymember Catherine Stefani ) !

With the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games on the horizon, Los Angeles has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to show the world what's possible. LA can make reuse the norm at restaurants, stadiums, and venues across the city.

Add your name today and urge Los Angeles business and policy leaders to pass a local reuse ordinance this year. Together, we can protect our health, reduce plastic pollution, support local businesses, and build a legacy that lasts long after the Games are over.

A new poll from Public Policy Institute of California suggests that the vast majority of Californians continue to support our environmental laws. Nine in ten adults say ocean and beach pollution is at least somewhat of a problem along the California coast, and shares are similar to last year.

We are incredibly disappointed in this ruling. While we think the state will ultimately prevail, the fact of the matter is that this injunction will allow greenwashing to go unchecked for months, if not years, while the case moves through the courts. In the end, it's consumers who suffer. Stay tuned for more updates as the progresses.
