ICYMI: OC Register: Newsom’s health tax will hurt our small businesses — and may not even be legal

Newsom’s proposed $1.5 billion tax on commercial health insurance. The editorial, published June 11, warns that the proposed managed care organization (MCO) tax increase would negatively impact hard working Californians, including small business owners throughout the state.

Californians are already facing higher costs for rent, groceries, childcare, transportation, and more. The MCO Tax proposal in the Governor’s May Revise would make things worse by increasing the cost of health coverage by $1.5 billion.
That means premiums could rise by more than $100 per member per year — adding up to hundreds of dollars more each year for a family of four.
Individuals, families, and employers shouldn’t have to pay more for health coverage when budgets are already stretched thin. Lawmakers should reject this proposal. Learn more: https://shorturl.at/kx2js
