Fire Captain Paramedic Manuel "Manny" Hernandez has dedicated his life to serving others — from the LA County Fire Explorer program all the way to serving as a Captain Paramedic, answering the call every single day.
While off duty, Manny suffered a devastating bilateral quadriceps tendon rupture, a rare and serious injury requiring emergency surgery on both legs. He's facing 6-9 months of recovery and extensive rehab — and because this happened off duty, he doesn't qualify for workers' comp or state disability.

As a California firefighter, he doesn't pay into SDI, leaving him with no income during his recovery.
The funds raised will help cover living expenses, medical bills, and the rehabilitation he needs so he can focus on healing.

In the fire service, we say no one fights alone. Manny has spent his career answering the call for others. Now it's our turn to answer it for him.
