Happy Friday from our sweet Bonnie girl! 🤍

We couldn’t think of a better way to head into the weekend than sharing a little happiness and one very special comeback story.

If you remember this sweet face from the Stanislaus County euthanasia list, you’re in for quite the surprise.

Bonnie came to us after enduring backyard breeding and neglect, with painful skin issues, Giardia, and a whole lot of healing ahead of her. Her little body had been through so much, but somehow, she still had nothing but love to give.

And goodness, what a difference a little time, patience, and love can make.

Her skin is clearing up fabulously, her Giardia is officially gone, and she’s blossoming into the most lovable little companion.

She knows her basic commands, is doing wonderfully with potty training, and has discovered that life is significantly better when spent on a comfortable couch.

Bonnie is low-energy, affectionate as can be, and happiest curled up next to someone who loves her. She’s not asking for grand adventures. Just a soft place to land, a little patience, and someone to share the quiet moments with.

Watching her heal has been wonderful, but watching her finally get to enjoy being a dog has been even sweeter.

Bonnie is scheduled to be spayed and vaccinated October 20th, and adoption applications will officially open November 1st!

She’s had quite enough of the hard stuff. Here’s to a lifetime of the good stuff. 🤍

One month ago, we made the 14½-hour round trip to Devore Shelter to bring home a 15-year-old senior named Bear.

He was scheduled to be euthanized. He could barely walk, had multiple masses on his belly, and the shelter believed his quality of life was essentially nonexistent.

We knew we might only have him for days. We hoped for weeks. We dreamed of months. Our goal was simple: give this old man a warm bed, a full belly, and a loving home for whatever time he had left. ❤️

Well… Buddy Bear apparently had other plans. 😂Because one month later, this old man is DOING AMAZING. His masses came back benign. He is walking. He is mobile. He LOVES being outside, loves people, and practically runs toward the other dogs because he wants to play. 🥹

He does have spondylosis, which affects his back legs, and he sometimes collapses. He takes daily Galliprant for pain and inflammation. His teeth are pretty awful, so he gets soft food and plenty of TLC.

But overall?** This old man is SPUNKY.** We thought we were bringing him home to help him peacefully cross the Rainbow Bridge. Instead, we’re wondering if we’re looking at months… maybe even years? Who knows. But we’re here for every single day he’s willing to give us. ❤️

Buddy Bear has reminded us exactly why senior dogs deserve a chance.

Maybe you’d love the companionship of a dog, but the thought of making a 10–15 year commitment feels overwhelming when you don’t know what the future holds.

That’s okay. ❤️ You can still make an incredible difference in a dog’s life by fostering.

Fostering gives you the opportunity to open your home to a dog waiting for their forever family, usually for 30 days to four months. It gives them time to decompress, learn, heal, feel safe, and most importantly… experience what it means to be loved. 🐶❤️

And we provide everything you need.

We provide:

🐾 Toys & supplies
🐾 Food & treats
🐾 All veterinary care
🐾 Monthly preventatives
🐾 Training when needed
🐾 Transport when necessary
🐾 Support from our team every step of the way

All we ask is that you open your home, care for the dog as your own, attend our monthly events in Roseville, and participate in meet-and-greets with potential adopters when they arise. And we work with your schedule. We know life happens.

Here’s the hard truth: without committed foster homes, we cannot save more dogs.

There are so many deserving dogs sitting in shelters right now. Dogs who could have had a completely different outcome if someone had simply opened their home and said, “You can stay here for now.” You don’t have to know what the future holds. You just have to be willing to give a dog a safe place in the present.

🏡❤️ FOREVER HOME FRIDAY ❤️🏡

Sometimes the dogs who start out as “just another stray” end up becoming someone’s whole world.

Today, that someone is little Miss Trixie. 🥹🐾

Trixie was found at a construction site in South Sacramento. Someone had clearly cared enough about her at some point to have her microchipped… but when that chip was checked, it had been wiped clean.

No owner came forward. A search of the surrounding area turned up nothing. And just like that, this sweet little girl found herself with nowhere to go.

Thankfully, a good human stepped up and kept Trixie safe for a couple of days while we worked behind the scenes to figure out how to get her into rescue. Once we had a spot for her, Trixie became a Pits & Pals K9 Rescue girl. ❤️

And then she went into foster. And oh, how she was loved. Her foster family adored her. Her fur foster siblings welcomed her. And Trixie showed everyone exactly who she was , a sweet, gentle, loving little girl who was dog-friendly, cat-friendly, and just genuinely wonderful.

But wonderful dogs sometimes get overlooked.

Trixie waited.

And waited.

Until the Pet Food Express Pet Fair.

And then… someone finally saw her. ❤️

They met Trixie and it was one of those moments where you just know. They fell in love. Instantly. They couldn’t walk away. And honestly? Neither could we. 🥹

Because Trixie wasn’t meant to spend her life waiting for someone to choose her. She was meant to have a family. A couch. A soft place to sleep. A fur brother. A person who looks at her every day and thinks, “How did we ever live without you?” And now she does. ❤️

Trixie has officially found her forever family and a pretty awesome fur brother named Bruce Willis. 🐶And Bruce? Well, he’s going to be her true “Die Hard” for life. 😂❤️

To Trixie’s new family, thank you for seeing her. Thank you for choosing her. Thank you for giving this sweet girl the forever she deserved all along.

And to her foster family, thank you for loving her while she waited. Thank you for opening your home, giving her comfort, showing her kindness, and reminding her that good humans exist. Foster families are the bridge between where a dog has been and where they’re meant to go. And you were that bridge for Trixie. ❤️

She’s HOME. 🏡❤️ Happy tails, sweet Trixie. You were worth the wait and your happily ever after is just beginning. 🐾✨

🐾 TALK ABOUT IT THURSDAY: WHY ARE WE STILL ON INTAKE HOLD? 🐾

Hi, friends. ❤️

We know some of you are wondering why we’re still on an intake hold when there are so many dogs who need help.

The honest answer?

We’re tired. Our fosters are tired. And our resources are stretched.

We’ve taken in Bear and Bonnie recently, but our foster families have been carrying a LOT. Some have asked for much-needed breaks, and we respect that. The same people cannot keep taking dog after dog without eventually burning out.

And financially, we’re stretched, too.

Buddy Bear is a hospice case. 💔
Sybil’s cancer has returned and she needs additional care.
Bonnie needed significant medical attention when she arrived.

We have to take care of the dogs already depending on us before we can responsibly say yes to another.

So, for now, we’re remaining on intake hold, likely through the end of the year, while we reset, recharge and rebuild our capacity.

There is an exception: if one of our team members or current, vetted fosters has the space and ability to take on a dog, we’ll consider it on a case-by-case basis depending on our financial ability to support that dog.

We know this is hard to hear.

We want to save them all.

But rescue isn’t just saying yes. It’s having a safe place for that dog to go, the people to care for them, and the resources to follow through.

Our team is five people. We have a handful of incredible fosters. And right now, we simply need more committed foster families to be able to save more dogs.

So… LET’S TALK ABOUT IT.

🏡 FOREVER HOME FOUND! 🏡

We are SO happy to announce that little Miss Georgina — a.k.a. Georgie, a.k.a. George — has found her forever family! 🥹❤️🐾

As many of you may remember, Georgie was rescued by one of our team members at the beginning of July, just days before the Fourth of July. An unhoused gentleman had found her wandering the streets only days before and desperately begged for help for her, believing she was pregnant.

When we met her, she was in absolutely heartbreaking condition. She looked as though she had either been hit by a vehicle or thrown from one. She needed immediate medical attention, and we were determined to give her exactly what she deserved.

With medical care, love, patience, and the dedication of her foster family, Georgie got healthy — and then she thrived. ❤️

She went from a scared, neglected girl to the happy, goofy, loving dog we always knew was in there. She got along with her foster siblings, discovered how wonderful life could be, and finally got the chance to simply be a DOG.

We believe Georgie was likely the victim of backyard breeding and neglect. But her past does not define her. We wanted her to know what it felt like to be safe, loved, cared for, and valued — and to become the dog she was always meant to be. 🐾

Then along came her family. They saw what an incredible girl Georgie is and jumped at the chance to make her part of their family. And we couldn’t be happier for all of them! 🥹❤️

Thank you to her new family for taking a chance on this special girl and showing her that her happily ever after really does exist. She now has a bunch of human siblings AND a fur brother to share her life with. We know she is going to be living her absolute best life!

Georgie, George, Georgina… whatever they call you, one thing is certain:

You are HOME. 🏡❤️

Happiest of tails to you, sweet girl. May your life be filled with endless love, belly rubs, adventures, couch snuggles, and all the good things you should have had from the very beginning. ❤️🐾

💔 HI FRIENDS. WE NEED YOUR HELP FOR SYBIL. 💔

As many of you may have seen, we recently discovered that Sybil’s mast cell cancer has returned in her leg.

We immediately did additional X-rays, and thankfully, there is currently no evidence that the cancer has spread to her abdomen or lungs. But her leg needs treatment, and we need to act before that changes.

We have scheduled Sybil with a veterinary oncologist on October 15th for a consultation.

Unfortunately, it appears that the treatment Sybil received back in March did not eliminate all of the cancer cells. That’s why we need the help of an oncologist now to determine exactly what we’re dealing with and what treatment will give Sybil the best chance.

The initial oncology consultation is $275.

That does not include medications, treatment, or additional diagnostics. Based on our past experience, we anticipate those costs could be $1,500–$3,000 or more.

And this is where we are asking our village to please step up for Sybil. ❤️

Sybil has been with us for more than two years as a foster. She still hasn’t found her forever home, but that does NOT make her life any less valuable.

She deserves the same chance at treatment, love, and more time that we would give any dog in our care.

We are going to fight for her.

Even if it means digging deep. Even if it means putting expenses on our own personal credit. Even if it means figuring it out one day at a time.

Because Sybil is special.
And she deserves every possible chance we can give her. ❤️

But we cannot do this alone.

🐾 WHERE ARE THEY NOW WEDNESDAY! 🐾

Today’s update is EXTRA special because we’re checking in on TWO of our adopted pups! 🥹❤️

Does anyone remember Dolly and her little outlaws, rescued back in April 2025? One of her babies, little June, was adopted by an amazing family and renamed Busy. 💕

Fast forward to the next year… that same family came back to us and started as a temporary foster for Yoshi, one of the pups from our Mario Kart litter. 🏎️🐾

Well… we all know how that story ended. 😂❤️

They fell instantly in love, and Yoshi officially became Alfie!

And LOOK AT THEM NOW! 😍

Busy & Alfie are living their absolute BEST lives. They are happy, adored, spoiled (as they should be 😉), and getting to do all kinds of amazing things with their family. They aren’t just pets — they are cherished members of the family and the best siblings to each other AND their human siblings. ❤️

And can we just talk about our two-time adopters?! 🥹

We LOVE all of our adopters, but there is something extra special about a family who takes a chance on us once… and then comes back for more. 🥰 They trusted us with their first adoption, had such a great experience that they opened their hearts and home again, and we are forever grateful.

Thank you for loving Busy and Alfie so incredibly well. We couldn’t ask for a better happily-ever-after for these two. ❤️🐾
