DATE CHANGE: American River Bridge Ribbon Cutting

The date has changed, but the celebration is still on! Join Caltrans and the cycling community as we celebrate the opening of the new American River Bridge where I-80 crosses the American River.

๐Ÿ“… Tuesday, August 25
โฐ 10am ceremony | 11am ribbon cutting

And yes , the date on the flyer is correct! ๐Ÿ™Œ

The bridge creates an important new connection for people biking and traveling through the American River Parkway, and we're excited to celebrate this milestone with our community.

๐Ÿšฒ Getting there by bike:

-From Midtown/Downtown: Pick up the trail at Sutter's Landing and follow the river about 1 mile to the bridge.

- From Discovery Park: Follow the American River Bike Trail east for about 5 miles. A paved extension leads under the bridge to the event.

-From Sacramento State: Cross the Guy West Bridge, turn left, and follow the American River Bike Trail about 4 miles to the bridge.

Come celebrate this exciting addition to Sacramento's bike network with us!

A simple reminder when traversing our paths.

Share the Trail Safely!

Help make our trails safe and enjoyable for everyone by following these simple guidelines:

-Walkers should stay on the left side of the trail.
-Dogs must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet and remain to the walkerโ€™s left.
-Bicyclists should ride on the right side of the trail. This allows walkers and riders to see each other as they approach.
-When approaching a walker, bicyclists must yield and pass carefully on the cyclistโ€™s left when it is safe to do so.

Stay alert, be courteous, and share the trail!

What does the data actually say about e-bikes? As e-bike ridership continues to grow across California, it's more important than ever that conversations about safety are grounded in facts and not fear.

In this new opinion piece for The Sacramento Bee, SABA's Rob Youngren explores why legal e-bikes are too often confused with illegal e-motos, why accurate data matters, and why safer infrastructureโ€”not misplaced panic, is the key to improving transportation safety.

At SABA, we believe we can have honest conversations about safety while also recognizing the tremendous benefits e-bikes bring to our communities: expanding mobility, reducing traffic, improving air quality, and helping more people choose biking as transportation.

We encourage you to give the article a read and join the conversation.
