Washington Lodge No. 20 held our annual Festive Board this week under our Master's theme of Travel and Discovery. What a wonderful evening of fellowship it turned out to be!

The event was filled with good "Mediterranean" food, Masonic tradition, laughter, and great company. Our ceremonial “penalties” for ritual violations also raised $189 in donations for Shriners Children’s Hospital, making the fun of the evening serve an even better purpose.

Thank you to all the Brothers and guests who joined us and helped make the evening such a success. It was a great reminder that some of the best parts of our Masonic journey are the fellowship and memories we make along the way.

Our brother, Creston Whiting-Casey, has suffered a devastating loss. Although he never asked for assistance, the obligation to help a brother in need is strong in Washington Lodge No. 20. Please help so far as you can do so without serious injury to yourself or your family.

Yesterday, several brethren of Washington Lodge No. 20 and their families enjoyed a fascinating walking tour of Sacramento's Historic Masonic Cemetery, expertly led by Andrew MacVicar. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the lives and legacies of those who helped shape both our fraternity and our community.

Among the many notable graves we visited was that of Worshipful Charles Duncombe, along with several other prominent California Masons whose service and dedication continue to inspire us today. Walking among these monuments is a powerful reminder that while our labors may one day end, the influence of a life well lived can endure for generations.

Our sincere thanks to Andrew MacVicar for sharing his knowledge and passion for the cemetery's rich history, and to everyone who joined us for this memorable morning of fellowship, learning, and remembrance.

Please join us in congratulating Robert Taylor Jr. on taking his first step in Freemasonry by being initiated as an Entered Apprentice in Washington Lodge No. 20.

For many of our members, the Taylor name brings to mind Robert's father, Bob Taylor Sr., a respected Brother whose friendship, character, and service (especially the meals he prepared!) left a lasting impression on our Lodge. And while we fondly remember Bob Sr. and the example he set, this ceremony belongs to Bob Jr.

Every Mason's journey is unique. The path ahead is one that each man must walk for himself, discovering the lessons, friendships, and opportunities that Freemasonry has to offer. We are honored that Robert Jr. has chosen to begin that journey with us, and we look forward to supporting him every step of the way.

Congratulations, Brother Bob, and welcome to the fraternity. We are proud to call you our Brother.

Washington Lodge No. 20 had a wonderful time at our Annual Family Picnic yesterday at Richard Marriott Park! A big thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy great fellowship, delicious food, and a beautiful day together. The burgers, hot dogs, ribs, and salads, as well as our special lodge cake were all a hit! Between games of Jenga, co****le, Frisbee, and even a little game of catch, there was plenty of fun for brothers, family, and friends.

A special thank you to Worshipful Dave Cameron for taking charge of the grill and keeping everyone well fed. Your hard work and great cooking helped make the picnic a tremendous success. We appreciate everyone who helped make the day memorable, and we’re already looking forward to next year!

As we close out a busy spring, we reflect on a successful May. Looking ahead to June, Washington Lodge No. 20 has an exciting lineup of events, including our annual family picnic, a historical milestone for Brother George Washington, and a special First Degree ceremony.

On the evening of May 21, 2026, Washington Lodge #20 had the great honor and privilege of raising Brother Anthony Ibarra to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason.

This degree was made even more special as it was held during our annual Past Masters Night, with much of the work being performed by the Past Masters of our lodge. It was a powerful reminder that the wisdom, traditions, and teachings of our Craft are passed from one generation of Masons to the next through dedication, fellowship, and labor.

We are deeply proud of Brother Anthony as he continues his Masonic journey, and we thank all of the Past Masters and brethren who helped make the evening such a memorable success.

Congratulations, Brother Ibarra. May the light of Freemasonry continue to guide your path as you travel onward in your pursuit of further light.

Last evening, the brethren of Washington Lodge #20, along with two visiting brethren from Union-Tehama Lodge #3, had the distinct pleasure of passing Brother Ivan Flowers to the degree of Fellowcraft.

This important step marks his continued journey in knowledge, growth, and self-improvement. We congratulate Brother Flowers and look forward to supporting him as he continues toward further light.
