Rebuilding Together began in 1974 and has since become the largest non-profit, volunteer home rehabilitation organization in America. The Sacramento affiliate launched in 1991 - as a barn raising activity to help low-income homeowners in need of home repairs.

Join Us in Rancho Cordova to Make a Difference!

Come help our neighbors by assisting with general home repairs and maintenance. Together, we can improve lives and revitalize communities!

Volunteer Projects Include:

Additional tasks will be determined based on skill set. Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome and needed, but we especially encourage skilled volunteers to lend a hand with certain tasks. Please see the link in our bio for more!

Our Greener Spaces, Healthier Places workshops brought Sacramento County students, ages 14–18, together for hands-on learning and community service.

In partnership with Sierra Service Project, students built indoor planters and added pet-friendly plants known to support indoor air quality. They also heard from Northern California Construction Training Inc. about construction careers and SMUD about STEM education.

Each completed planter was gifted to a senior previously served through our Safe at Home program, connecting new skills with a meaningful way to give back.

Thank you to the students, Sierra Service Project and our presenters. And, a big thank you to SMUD for funding these 2026 workshops.

Continue 35 years of Rebuilding Together Sacramento with us! Review a few more of our 35 simple home safety improvements that you can do in your own home.

Small adjustments in the bathroom can dramatically reduce slips and injuries and can even help with reducing monthly water bills. Here’s five DIY bathroom tasks you can check for a safer summer!

Actions:

🌡️ Set the water heater to a safe temperature (~120°F).

🚿 Use non-slip mats inside tubs and showers.

🔧 Identify any leaks under sinks and tighten or re-tape pipes where needed.

🚰 Place absorbent mats rugs outside tubs, showers, and sinks.

🪟 Improve bathroom ventilation by running fans or opening windows.

35 years of showing up for Sacramento. ❤️ Since 1991, we've repaired fences, installed ramps, replaced failing systems, and made thousands of homes safer for the neighbors who call them home. Seniors who can age in place, Veterans who have a safe space to heal. Families who don't have to choose between a repair and a meal.

House Captains needed! Lead a rebuild project and change a life.

Rebuilding Together Sacramento is seeking volunteer House Captains and Co-House Captains to help lead upcoming home repair projects for local homeowners in need.
