Thank you to Covered California Executive Team for celebrating Big Day of Giving with us at the Oak Park Art Garden this morning!

We are thrilled to be working with local artist Leon Willis on an 80 foot mural as part of our long-awaited updates to this beloved, central Oak Park corner.

Today's volunteers helped prep the mural for Saturday's Community Mural Paint Day and brought the BDOG spirit with them!

Tomorrow is the Big Day of Giving! Become an early donor now to help us meet our goal at https://www.bigdayofgiving.org/organization/AlchemistCDC

Alchemist Community Development Corporation is grassroots in the truest sense, so we depend on donors just like you to help us serve our community. For 22 years, we have planted ourselves in Sacramento's most under-served communities, because we believe that food is essential to creating equity and community. Today those roots reach far into Sacramento’s neighborhoods with diverse programs. From farmers' markets to shared kitchens, food entrepreneurs creating their businesses, families getting groceries where the system falls short, and neighbors turning empty lots into gathering places.

Thanks to Tri Counties Bank, every dollar you donate through Big Day of Giving does double the work!

Oak Park, let’s have some fun!

Join us for the Oak Park Art Garden Community Mural Paint Day! We'll be laying down the first layer of the mural and celebrating the beginning of construction all at once!

No art skills needed. Just show up ready to paint, have a good time, and be part of the day!

We’ll have a DJ, other art activities, and lunch for all registered volunteers.

This is just the first of many fun volunteer opportunies during construction! We have more painting, planting, and activities in store.

The Oak Park Tool Library is a developing project of Alchemist Community Development Corporation.

We are working to establish the first community-powered lending library of tools in the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento, in order to help all neighbors have better and easier access to the tools they need for construction, maintenance, and repair projects.
The Oak Park Tool Library will be housed in a shipping container on the grounds of the Oak Park Art Garden (3834 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Sacramento, CA, 95820).
- - - - - -
Current Status:
The entire Oak Park Art Garden site is under development to become a vibrant community hub. Construction will begin on the Oak Park Art Garden by Spring 2025, and will be completed within 2025. The completed construction will result in the installation of the Oak Park Tool Library building, allowing us to proceed with the next steps of setting up and operating the Oak Park Tool Library. This means the Oak Park Tool Library opening will be later than the completion date for construction, as work cannot begin on physically setting up the library until the site is completed safely.

Get Involved:
- Monetary donations will help establish the Oak Park Tool Library, including the purchasing of tools, shelving, library management hardware and software, and operations. You can make a gift at the following link with a Gift Note of "Oak Park Tool Library": https://alchemistcdc.org/donate/
- Volunteers will be essential to the operations of the Oak Park Tool Library. If you'd like to indicate your interest in eventually volunteering for the library, you can let us know at https://alchemistcdc.org/volunteer/ and we will contact you as opportunities open up
- We will only be able to accept new tools as direct tool donations. For liability and capacity reasons, we will not be able to accept used tools. If you have a good connection to a hardware store, tool distributor, etc., who might be interested in donating new tools, please contact us at [email protected]
