Clara's House Clinic

Clara’s House is a no-cost clinic for people without health insurance in the Sacramento area. All staff are volunteers and unpaid.

We opened our doors on January 21, 2010 and see patients 9:00AM-5:00PM weekdays. Since we have opened, we have found that our patients cluster into several categories: the homeless, those without insurance, those who have lost their insurance due to layoffs or employers cutting health benefits, those who have a Medi-Cal share of cost beyond their ability to pay, and those applying for county prima

ry health care services who need primary health care until eligibility is established. We do not charge patients for medical services or lab testing, and provide some medications and immunizations through pharmaceutical patient assistance programs and grants. We accept patients only by referral from community partners with whom we have signed memoranda of understanding. The community partner provides a social services safety net while the clinic provides the primary and comprehensive health care.

Pictured below is Sr. Kathy Wood, OSF, accepting a generous contribution of $2,500 from representatives of the OSDIA on June 26, 2026. Pictured with Sr. Kathy are Maria Fassio Pignati (left) and Pamela Ricci, (at right.) The OSDIA, founded in 1905, is the largest and oldest national organization dedicated to men and women in America of Italian heritage. The organization has more than 100,000 members and affiliates. Its mission is to promote a strong sense of community among Italian Americans, cultivate Italian culture and language, and support charitable causes. The Western Foundation, consisting of Oregon, Nevada and California chapters, met in Sacramento last week and Sr. Kathy spoke to the group about Clara’s House. Clara’s House is grateful for the most generous gift!

More than 900 non-profits will participate this year, and Clara’s House is happy to be among them. Last year BDOG raised more than $13.8 million for 855 non-profits. Clara’s House is a no-cost primary care clinic for people without health insurance or other means to pay for needed health care. Appointments are available to adults without respect to race, culture, ability to speak English, or spiritual beliefs.
