STOCKTON SAN JOAQUIN LIONS - The CLF grant allowed the Club to expand the Blind Amateur Net Group (BANG) Project, our blind ham radio project for individuals who are blind, low vision or have other disabilities alongside other newly-licensed and welcoming seasoned hams. We purchased more powerful equipment including a radio and antennas that could expand the reach of our communications and allow us to participate in more community events and service opportunities. At Lodi Field Day June 27, some of our blind members got to meet people in person with whom they have been communicating for nearly a year! They wrote call signs and names in braille and shared how speech software on the radios enables them to operate them. Children were encouraged to try ham radio for the first time by speaking to our blind operators inside the “Secret Sub”, allowing them to participate in person or from home and allowing us to give kids a certificate for making their first contact as a third party under the licenses of our members.

Checking out the new BANG setups and all the equipment set up by others that day was fun. Thanks to this grant, our blind operator Eric is set up with a more powerful antenna and is close to being our first blind member running the net. He will be doing so independently from Escalon using a headset, foot pedal and braille script! Thank you CLF for allowing the club to help blind members prepare for and assist in emergency situations, feel included, develop communication skills and social networks and a love for this limitless hobby!

OAKLAND CHINATOWN LIONS - We coordinated with Esther Hsu of Salvation Army and their youth leadership team and set a date of July 19th for the assembling of the backpacks.The announcement flyer was posted on our e-clubhouse site and our Oakland Chinatown Lions Club page. 15 youth leadership team members, 4 Oakland Chinatown Lions Club members, and Esther Hsu were on hand an assembly line. Pencils, colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, an eraser, and a fun pen were put into the zippered pencil cases. The pencil cases, along with a notebook, facial tissue pack, and a flyer were inserted into a backpack.Thank you California Lions Foundation for providing the funds for this wonderful project which will help low income families who have young children Kindergarten to 3rd grade start the school year with a new backpack filled with school supplies.

JURUPA DISTRICT LIONS - Jurupa Lions purchased supplies such as meat, vegetables, rice beans etc. They cooked meals and placed them in to go containers, adding a sweet treat and water. They then drove around the city of Jurupa Valley to disperse the meals. They were able to feed 40-50 individuals weekly. The Jurupa District Lions are very grateful to the California Lions Foundation for the grant. Our community is very grateful and the unhoused who get a hot meal are very, very grateful.

SELMA CENTRAL VALLEY LIONESS LIONS CLUB - Through the generous support of the California Lions Foundation, the Club partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Fresno County - Selma Clubhouse to provide two educational, hands-on activities designed to promote nutrition, healthy lifestyles, and cultural awareness among youth in the Selma community. Participants learned about the nutritional benefits of fresh ingredients, including tomatoes, onions, cilantro, peppers, garlic, and limes, through hands-on food preparation and tasting. The activity encouraged healthy eating habits while fostering an appreciation for cultural heritage, family traditions, and community involvement. The Selma Central Valley Lioness Lions Club appreciates the California Lions Foundation's generous financial support, which made these educational opportunities possible. The Foundation's investment helped provide meaningful experiences that will have a lasting positive impact on the youth participating!

HARBOR MESA LIONS CLUB - The CLF Grant allowed the club to purchase eco-friendly detergent to help families experiencing homelessness served by Project Hope Alliance. Providing eco-friendly laundry detergent that aligns with both health and environmental sustainability goals, ensuring that families have access to safe, non-toxic cleaning products while reducing environmental impact. For students experiencing homelessness, access to clean clothing is a major barrier to school participation and self-confidence. Many families lack reliable laundry facilities or funds for detergent. Without clean clothes, youth are more likely to face stigma, absenteeism, and decreased academic performance. Thank you California Lions Foundation for your support of our Lions Club Project helping those in need in our community!
