This month, as part of our Pride celebrations – we are uplifting some key histories of Transcestors fighting for Liberation for all. Through this series, we’ll highlight some Trans change-makers who worked to bring us closer to Liberation. Celebrating the history of Trans folks in the movements for Racial and Social Justice is critical to our success in building a Union for all. Let’s kick it off with Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, who was a testament to resilience, courage, and radical love.

An icon👑who fought for trans equality since Stonewall and dedicated herself to uplifting Black trans communities from organizing in Attica Prison and Transgender Gender-Variant Intersex Justice Project (TGIJP).

We join the whole LGBTQIA+ community to continue her work in the ongoing fight for liberation. 🌈

Congratulations to CFA member-endorsed candidate Xavier Becerra for advancing to the General Election in November, and to all our members and staff who helped with voter outreach.
This is just the beginning. We have to hold on to this momentum and show up for working families, which starts with electing people who will work for working families. ¡Vamos! ✊🏽

CFA’s PERB Hearing on Management’s AI Initiative Now Underway: Once the formal hearing is over, we will await a proposed decision from the administrative law judge, which may be followed by appeal by either party depending on the decision. We’re hopeful that a ruling in our favor can bring about a more thoughtful approach toward AI in the university. But CFA is not just fighting with the PERB hearing. We’re fighting to protect faculty rights on AI in bargaining, legislation, and in the media.

“In my four years, it has felt like the California State University (CSU) system is constantly in crisis. Courses have been cut. There have been layoffs, tuition and fee increases. Campuses have merged, and some departments and degrees have been eliminated. Students, faculty and staff keep getting the same message from the chancellor’s office about how CSU needs more money.”
