By 1923, California hygienists were advocating for the creation of a national
association—the American Dental Hygienists’ Association. California would later be proud of its pivotal role in helping create ADHA. Think about the speed of it...

1918: California admits its first dental hygiene students.
1920: The state association is formed.
1921: Licensure begins.

Sadie boarded a train anyway.
The journey to Boston would have taken days. Long days of steel wheels, station platforms, unfamiliar faces, and the steady ache of distance growing between her and everything she had known. California fell behind her. Ahead was a city she did not yet understand and a profession that barely existed.
She was going to the Forsyth Dental Infirmary for Children...

Myofunctional Therapy is here in Sacramento! This is an introductory course in Myofunctional Therapy.

Participants will learn to recognize common signs of dysfunctional breathing (mouth breathing, poor lip seal), abnormal oral rest posture (low tongue posture, scalloped tongue), deviant swallow patterns, and tethered oral tissues. The course also reviews airway-centered risk pathways—including snoring, UARS, and obstructive sleep apnea—and discusses how hygienists can communicate findings, document risk indicators, and collaborate within an interdisciplinary referral network.

Attendees will leave with a “Start Monday” screening checklist and patient-friendly language to support prevention-focused care.

***SPACE LIMITED to 100 attendees! First Registered, First Served!***
