As we get ready for the 2026 National Philanthropy Day Awards, we are so excited to celebrate this year’s honorees:

From decades of community leadership to two young volunteers who started giving back at just four and six years old, each of our honorees reminds us that philanthropy can take so many different forms.
It can be giving your time. Sharing your expertise. Opening doors for someone else. Investing in an organization. Bringing people together. Or simply deciding that you want to help.

This one might be our sweetest honoree spotlight yet!
When siblings Nathan and Victoria Sweetin first started volunteering with the Food Literacy Center in 2022, Victoria was just 4 years old and Nathan was 6.
They may have been little, but they were already learning something pretty big: how good it feels to help someone else.
Since then, Nathan and Victoria have rolled up their sleeves again and again, selling fruits and vegetables at the Kids Farmers Market, planting seeds, weeding on the farm and helping Food Literacy Center inspire other kids to eat healthy foods.
After helping at one Kids Farmers Market, Nathan said, “I felt good. I had just helped at least 200 kids. Hopefully it made a big impact in their lives.”
And when Victoria was asked why she likes volunteering, she shared, “I like helping kids in need. It makes me feel happy when I see kids getting food to help them stay healthy.”
We couldn’t think of a better reminder that you are never too young to make a difference.
AFP-CCC is incredibly proud to recognize Nathan and Victoria as our 2026 Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy, and we can’t wait to celebrate them at the awards on September 15, as part of Sacramento Region Community Foundation’s Philanthropy Summit.

What can happen when a community doesn’t just invest in nonprofits, but invests in the people behind them?
That idea is at the heart of Sacramento Venture Philanthropy (SVP), AFP California Capital Chapter’s 2026 Outstanding Corporation!
SVP brings nonprofit leaders, funders and volunteers together to help local organizations grow stronger, pairing financial support with mentorship, technology, expertise and hands-on help.
Through programs like Fast Pitch, Think Tanks, the 100x Program and Direct Support Grants, SVP meets nonprofits where they are and helps them build the tools and capacity they need to grow their impact.
This year, that included helping more than 150 nonprofit staff and leaders explore how to responsibly and effectively use AI through SVP’s AI for Good Summer Sprint, followed by a five-day hackathon that brought volunteer builders together to create custom tools for nonprofits.
Led by CEO Brad Squires, SVP is a great example of what is possible when people share not only their resources, but also their knowledge, creativity and time.

If you work in Sacramento’s nonprofit and philanthropic community, there’s a good chance Kelly Siefkin has encouraged you, connected you with someone, shared an idea or simply cheered you on along the way.
That is just one of the many reasons we are thrilled to recognize Kelly as AFP California Capital Chapter’s 2026 Outstanding Fundraising Professional!
Kelly currently serves as Chief Philanthropy Officer for the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, helping generous people turn their desire to give into meaningful impact throughout our region.
Her career has also included fundraising and leadership roles at Sacramento State and Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services, where she spent more than a decade strengthening fundraising, communications and volunteer engagement and helping orchestrate Run to Feed the Hungry.
Just as importantly, Kelly has always made time to give back to her profession, including serving in multiple leadership roles with AFP-CCC. She embodies the generosity, connection and heart that make this work so special.

For more than 40 years, Leadership Sacramento has been bringing people together to learn, lead and give back to the community we all call home.
AFP California Capital Chapter is proud to recognize the Sacramento Metro Chamber Foundation’s Leadership Sacramento Program as our 2026 Outstanding Organization!
Since 1985, the year-long program has given local business and civic leaders the opportunity to better understand our region, build meaningful relationships and turn what they learn into action.
Each class also comes together around a community betterment project, putting their collective talents, connections and energy behind a local need.
The result is a legacy that extends far beyond any one class or project. For more than four decades, Leadership Sacramento has helped develop generations of leaders who continue to show up for our region.

Some people lead successful organizations. Others use that leadership to strengthen an entire community. Garry Maisel has spent his career doing both.
We are proud to recognize Garry as AFP California Capital Chapter’s 2026 Outstanding Changemaker!
During his nearly three decades leading Western Health Advantage, Garry helped build an organization known not only for its work in healthcare, but also for its deep commitment to giving back.
That same spirit of service can be seen throughout Garry’s own life. He has shared his time, leadership and expertise with organizations across our region, including the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, Crocker Art Museum, WEAVE, Sacramento State, Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts and many more.
Garry is a wonderful example of what it means to use your influence for good, and we are so excited to celebrate the impact he has made throughout our community.
