“BeReal was designed in France in 2019 by Alexis Barreyat. The concept of the social media app, BeReal is that you'll receive a notification every day at random, and you'll have two minutes to snap a front and back image of what you're doing. Then, you can respond to your friend's photos and post late if necessary.

The advent of social media has created a way for people to feel as if they are in connection with others. Social Media BeReal has gradually gained popularity in recent years as it allows you to be your true self while maintaining a little virtual distance from others. You can use BeReal whenever you want and wherever you want. It will enable you to express yourself how you would like, with no one judging you on your post. In other words, it helps to break free from all the pressures that society places on everyone.”

“Current statistics show a spike of cases in recent weeks. This contrast of cases spiking and Sacramento allowing citizens to regulate themselves has me pondering safety concerns.
The current spike in cases is still nothing compared to what happened in January with Omicron. The increase is still notable compared to only a few months ago. The New York Times has reported a daily average of over 500 new cases and a daily average of 2 deaths in Sacramento County, as of July 7. The Los Angeles Times reported a slightly lower number of almost 500 new cases and an average 1 death per day, as of July 8. Both these sites and the official Sacramento County COVID-19 Dashboard show this new spike starting to mellow since July.”

“On 2251 Florin Road, Florin Square holds its annual African Marketplace event on the first and third Saturday of every month. This event will draw you to various parts of African culture through food, clothing, hair and skin products, and accessories.
The African Marketplace is the place to go if you're interested in supporting local black businesses in Sacramento and learning about the city's culture and traditions. The intricate traditions and friendly smiles from the vendors and shoppers made me feel welcome as I walked around the event.”

“A (n)oun that is defined as noble, ready. Often, when asked to introduce ourselves, we
tend to introduce ourselves by our age, birthplace, career and academic attributes, and
another person’s perception of who they think we are. It is then we build an introduction for ourselves, but is that who we really are, or does it go beyond the surface?
The true identity and introduction of who we are are so complex that we must go beyond our consciousness and dive into the inward and outward framework of our experiences, our ways of learning, our thoughts processes, our characteristics, and our interpersonal relationships and environment because then, we can correlate these pieces of framework and understand how each piece built the shape of the distribution of our identity.
Fortunate to enter the world with a companion and entering a two-parent home that would eventually transition into a single-parent home, my center of identity has stemmed from having a disability.”

“I want to write about all the community experiences in Sacramento, as well as current social issues. I grew up on a farm in rural Mendocino County. My family and I moved to Sacramento right before my freshman year. My exploration of this city and first year in high school was cut short by the pandemic. Now that the city is waking up, I want to report on all kinds of fun activities and experiences. I am inspired to write about things that became important to me during COVID-19. Mental health and the youth perspective on academics are subjects I am very passionate about.

Moving into the future, I hope to find more topics that interest me, as well as continuing the paths I started. My view is that the best way to create vocal and informed adults is to nurture vocal and informed youth. I hope to always keep the young people who are affected in a given situation in mind. I am always excited to hear about the many local events, protests and clashes of culture waiting to be uncovered in Sacramento. Whatever my next story focuses on, I will be sure to bring integrity, originality and color.”

"Hello! My name is Harlan Gonzales. I am a student at Sacramento City College studying Computer Science. When I am not studying, I am usually working as a supervisor at a coffee shop.

Although my schedule tends to stay busy, I still find time for the things I love such as performing improv, learning a language, or taking the train somewhere new.
Along with an interest in passenger rail, I also have a passion for community and people. I enjoy meeting and chatting with my neighbors, attending community events, and generally being around others. I like to think of everyone as a friend so if you see me around, don’t be shy to say “hi!”

I am super excited to start writing for Sacramento’s AccessLocal.TV. During my time here, I hope to write stories and share news about how great Sacramento is. Our seemingly small city has a lot to offer and it’s an honor to be able to write about this city that I love!"
