Sac Textile Arts During the pandemic our groups are meeting by Zoom. You can look at our Events Calendar, on our timeline, for meeting days and times. All levels are welcome.

The Sacramento Collective for the Textile Arts offers a wide range of programs for practicing artists, collectors, and those who appreciate all forms of fiber and textile arts. In addition to lectures and workshops, and our annual Art to Wear & More show and sale, SCTA has four study groups: Surface Design and Mixed Media, Beading, Needle Arts and Book Arts. This year the Art to Wear & More event has become a virtual marketplace, with artists and some of their works featured on our website. Links are provided to the artists’ websites and social media. The Surface Design group explores all facets of surface design and mixed media techniques, including dyeing, discharge, Shibori, silk screening, and carving custom stamps. Surface Design and Mixed Media members meet on the second Thursday of most months from 1pm–3pm. Everyone is welcome to attend. Beading study group members meet to discuss all aspects of beadwork, from stringing, bead weaving and bead embroidery, to exploring marketplace topics. The group meets the first Monday of each month, at 10:30 am. The Needle Arts Group meets the first Monday of each month at 6:30 pm. A different aspect of needlework is discussed or demonstrated at each meeting. Recent topics have included appliqué, needlefelting, and Boro stitching. The newest group, the Book (and Paper) Arts Group makes a new book or box structure each third Thursday at 1pm. We have recently covered Coptic books, Japanese stab bound books, and accordion structures .

Create unique textile art using everyday buttons as the primary medium!
Unleash your creativity and have fun with buttons, colorful fabrics and your imagination! Join other women for a relaxing, hands-on art workshop. Bring upcycled fabric, buttons and embellishments if you can! Workshop materials are also provided by WWA. All experience levels are welcome!
Women’s Wisdom Art offer arts, writing and wellness workshops for five Sacramento County nonprofits at seven locations with free public drop-in workshops and events. All women are welcome and encouraged to participate in our free workshops and join our supportive communities.

Join us as we embroider creative designs on upcycled linen! All experience levels are welcome- Sign up on eventbrite today!

Participants will be embroidering on a 17”x17” sized upcycled linen to be made into a tote bag or accent pillow cover. Participants are encouraged to bring personal items such as fabric, buttons or beads to incorporate into your piece. Material should fit into a 10” embroidery frame.
