Following Jesus often goes against our natural instincts.

In Acts 18:1–17, Pastor Matthew McCleary reminds us that faith is not about relying on our own strength, persuasion, or ability to protect ourselves. It is about trusting the God who changes hearts, leads us through fear, and remains faithful even when the way forward feels uncertain.

The cross itself is the ultimate picture of this counterintuitive faith: Jesus did not defend Himself, but gave Himself for us—and through His death and resurrection, we have life, peace, and security in Him.

Today we gathered around the table, worshiped together, heard God’s Word, and remembered the One who gave Himself for us.

Pastor Matthew reminded us through Acts 18:1–17 that following Jesus often calls us beyond self-protection and into a counterintuitive faith shaped by the cross.

When Being Liked Matters More Than Sharing Jesus.

What good is building a bridge if we’re too afraid to cross it?
Building relationships is important, but fear of rejection can keep us from taking that next step—pointing people to Jesus.

May our desire to make Christ known always be greater than our desire to be liked and accepted. The bridge is only the beginning, not the destination. 🙏

Traffic. Bad coffee. Long lines. We get frustrated over the smallest things. But are our hearts just as stirred by the things that matter to God?

In Acts 17:16–34, Paul was deeply moved by a city filled with idols. His response was to point people toward the living God.

May we become a church that is less consumed by life's little inconveniences and more moved to prayer, compassion, and sharing the hope of Jesus.

What provokes us should remind us of what matters most. 🙏

A Brokenhearted Love | Acts 17:16–34

What happens when our love for God becomes a genuine love for people who don’t yet know Him?

In Acts 17, Paul enters Athens and encounters a city filled with idols. Rather than withdrawing or retaliating, he builds bridges, engages people with love, and ultimately points them to Jesus.

May our zeal for God become a zeal for others to know Him—and may everything we do point people to the hope found in Jesus Christ.

What a gift to worship, pray, and hear God’s Word together as a church family. ❤️

This Sunday in Acts 17, we were reminded that our love for God should deepen our love for people. Paul didn’t stay on the sidelines—he moved toward others, built bridges, and ultimately pointed them to Jesus.

May what God is doing in our hearts on Sunday continue throughout the week—loving one another, praying for one another, and sharing the hope we have in Christ.
Build the bridge. Cross it. Point them to Jesus.
