Join us Monday, August 24th, 6:30–7:30 PM at St. Charles Borromeo Parish Gym in South Sacramento.

This gathering is about lifting up the stories of our immigrant neighbors. This parish is in a neighborhood facing some of the highest rate of youth mental health struggles and among the lowest income levels in our county. Many families here are directly impacted by immigration enforcement and the fear it brings.

They deserve to be seen. They deserve to be heard. And they deserve a community that shows up for them.

Come listen. Come learn. Come stand in solidarity.

On August 19th, our Multi-Faith Prayer Vigil drew the largest crowd to date. Every person there stood as a testament to how the Sacramento faith community believes immigrant families should be treated — with dignity, justice, and compassion.

We gathered to remember, and to say clearly: our immigrant neighbors are not alone. Their fear is our concern. Their dignity is non-negotiable. Their belonging in this community is not up for debate.

To everyone who came, who prayed, who sang, or who stood quietly because it mattered — thank you. You are proof that compassion still shows up when it’s needed most.

On Saturday, August 1st Sacramento ACT kicked off the 2026 civic engagement season with — faith leaders, neighbors, community leaders, and young leaders — over 60 of us came together from all across Sacramento county. Different ages, different backgrounds, different walks of life. But for a few hours, we were just people, sitting together, learning from each other.
We came to talk with each other — about what's really happening in our community, what our democracy needs from us right now, and how we make sure every single person feels safe and empowered to vote this coming election.
There's something powerful about doing this work as people of faith, side by side with our neighbors. We left with more than information — we left with a plan, a sense of urgency, and a real commitment to look out for each other in the days ahead. As a community, we acknowledge what is at stake — and we are committed to fulfilling our moral responsibility to each other and to our shared faith values.

El sábado 1 de agosto, Sacramento ACT dio inicio a la temporada de participación cívica 2026 — líderes de fe, vecinos, líderes comunitarios y jóvenes — más de 60 de nosotros nos reunimos desde todo el condado de Sacramento. Diferentes edades, diferentes trasfondos, diferentes caminos de vida. Pero por unas horas, fuimos simplemente personas, sentadas juntas, aprendiendo unas de otras.

Vinimos a conversar entre nosotros — sobre lo que realmente está sucediendo en nuestra comunidad, lo que nuestra democracia necesita de nosotros en este momento, y cómo aseguramos que cada persona se sienta segura y empoderada para votar en esta próxima elección.

Nos fuimos con más que información — nos fuimos con un plan, un sentido de urgencia, y un compromiso genuino de cuidarnos unos a otros en los días por venir. Como comunidad, reconocemos lo que está en juego — y estamos comprometidos a cumplir con nuestra responsabilidad moral hacia cada uno de nosotros y hacia nuestros valores compartidos de fe.

AB 2465 is headed to the Senate Appropriations Committee — and the hearing is today, August 3. Senator Cabaldon sits on this committee, and his "Yes" vote is essential to keep the bill moving.

ACTUALIZACIÓN: ¡Vigilia de oración CONFIRMADA para el 19 de agosto!

Durante nuestra vigilia de oración del 15 de julio, realizada en la esquina de Capitol Mall y la calle 7, se pidió a los líderes religiosos y al personal de Sac ACT que abandonaran el área cercana al Edificio Federal John Moss. Ante esto, nos trasladamos a otra parte de la calle donde no estuviéramos en propiedad federal ni obstruyéramos la acera.

Nuestros líderes se pusieron manos a la obra de inmediato para organizar la siguiente vigilia y solicitaron el permiso correspondiente. ¡Lo lograron y obtuvieron el permiso para utilizar nuestra ubicación habitual! ¡Acompáñenos el 19 de agosto al mediodía mientras continuamos orando en solidaridad con los inmigrantes y otras comunidades afectadas!

Nuestra directora ejecutiva, Tere Flores Onofre, declaró al *Sacramento Bee*: "Siempre lo hemos hecho de manera pacífica y no violenta. Creemos que, si renunciamos a este derecho, eso es precisamente lo que espera la administración: que simplemente cedamos nuestros derechos y dejemos de defender aquello en lo que creemos. Es decir, que los inmigrantes deben ser bienvenidos, que debe haber un debido proceso y que se deben respetar los derechos humanos de las personas".

UPDATE: Prayer Vigil CONFIRMED for August 19th!

At our July 15th Prayer Vigil, at the corner of Capitol Mall and 7th street, Sac ACT faith leaders and staff were asked to leave the premises near the John Moss Federal Building. We pivoted and moved to a part of the street where we would not be on federal property or obstruct the sidewalk.

Our leaders got right to work organizing the next vigil and applied for a permit. They succeeded and acquired a permit to use our usual location! Join us on August 19th at 12 noon as we continue to pray in solidarity with immigrants and other impacted communities!

Our Executive Director, Tere Flores Onofre, to the Sacramento Bee “We have always done it in a peaceful and nonviolent way. So we believe that, if we give up this right, that is what the administration is banking on — that we will just concede our rights, and not continue to stand up for what we believe in. Which is immigrants should be welcomed, that there should be due process and people’s human rights should be respected.”
