Youth Organizing Summer Institute Kicks-off June 30th
Apply now through June 24th, 2026
🟢 6-8 youth between the ages of 16-20 will be selected
🟢 6 weeks, 6 training sessions, up to 20 hours a week ($22/hr)

"Para mí, Vesak es un tiempo para pensar en las enseñanzas de Buda. En mi tradición, estas enseñanzas dicen que nuestro despertar espiritual no es solo para ayudarnos a nosotros mismos, sino para ayudar a todos los seres. Prometemos ayudar a otras personas siempre que podamos. Para mí, el trabajo por la justicia social que hacen organizaciones como SacACT es una forma de cumplir esa promesa. Unirnos con otras personas líderes de fe para ayudar a quienes lo necesitan, pedir justicia igual para todos, y actuar con amor y compasión—valores que muchas religiones comparten—es la forma más significativa de honrar el legado de Buda."

"For me, Vesak is a time to reflect on the teachings of the Buddha, which in my tradition emphasize that our spiritual awakening is not undertaken just for our own benefit, but for the benefit of all beings. We take vows to be of benefit to others whenever possible, and for me, the faith social justice work of organizations like SacACT is a way of fulfilling that vow. Coming together with other faith leaders to help those in need and advocate for equal justice, and to engage in action with love and compassion, values that all our faith traditions share, is the most meaningful way to honor the legacy of the Buddha." Tenzin Chogkyi -SacACT Faith Leader, Buddhist teacher and activist.

As we close out this month, Sacramento ACT honors Vesak—celebrated on different dates across cultures and traditions. The diversity in how we celebrate reminds us that spiritual truth takes many beautiful forms, and our faith community grows stronger when we honor each other's sacred moments.
