Jackie Donohoe hopes that the 11th anniversary of her daughter’s death after the Berkeley balcony collapse serves as a reminder to Assemblymember Wicks (Buffy Wicks) and the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee to amend AB 1903 in a way that encourages new construction but still protects consumers and saves lives.

"Many experienced litigators are unfamiliar with the new trial motion and its wide ranging utility (properly filed after both dispositive motions and jury trials). The two main reasons to file a new trial motion are (1) you might actually get a new trial (and much faster than a two-year appeal!); and (2) even if you don’t get a new trial, the new trial motion can be a crucial tool for completing the record and laying down your blueprint for the appeal."

💪 Meet Anne Marie Murphy.

Anne Marie is a Principal at Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy, LLP, where she practices civil litigation focusing on complex commercial litigation, class actions, public nuisance litigation, consumers’ rights and elder abuse litigation. However, her litigation practice is far ranging and includes being the court appointed co-lead counsel for a nationwide securities class action, litigating against Major League Baseball over the Baseball Antitrust Exemption, and representing taxpayers in a suit to stop Governor Schwarzenegger from selling major Californian historic properties and courthouses.
