🚨 THE MIRANDA RESCUE TRAGEDY MUST BE A TURNING POINT FOR CALIFORNIA 🚨Let the lives of the innocent dogs who were so brutally murdered at Miranda’s not be in vain.
The heartbreaking events at Miranda’s Rescue exposed a much bigger failure: animal protection laws exist, but are often flagrantly violated or ignored by the local jurisdictions whose duty it is to enforce California animal protection laws.
Whether an animal is inside a shelter, with a rescue, lost, abandoned, stray, on the streets, or in a homeless encampment, animals are protected under California law.
Let their deaths push California lawmakers to finally stand up for animals and ensure that Hayden’s Law, and all mandatory animal protection laws across California, are obeyed, respected, and enforced.
Animals are protected under California law. These are mandatory, not discretionary laws! Humboldt County clearly failed the animals at Miranda. Per reports, for years they ignored both local and regional complaints about conditions at Miranda’s.
What must be made clear is 3 cities in Humboldt County actually contracted with and paid Miranda to provide animal care services for their community. This fact alone should highlight and answer questions about why so little has been done to SHUT DOWN MIRANDA’S.
They have culpability in the Miranda tragedy — from the cities that contracted with them, to the planning department who allowed them to operate for over 20 years without a valid use permit and still refuses to shut them down, to the Sheriff who, per reports, ignored credible complaints.
We will NEVER back down. Will you join our movement to FIX OUR SHELTERS? Will you help educate the masses about the truth?
The Fix Our Shelters Coalition is taking this fight to the California State Capitol.
Yesterday, we met with the offices of Humboldt Senator Mike McGuire and Assemblymember Chris Rogers to discuss the systemic failures that allowed the Miranda tragedy to happen and the changes needed to prevent it from happening again.
EDUCATE -ADVOCATE- LEGISLATE! Lawmakers across California MUST finally understand the root of the animal welfare crisis we face is because local jurisdictions, whose duty it is to protect animals whether they are inside or outside shelter walls, have failed them. We believe the RICH non profits like ASPCA, Best Friends, San Francisco SPCA, UC Davis Koret and so many others, have failed animals.
