American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network - California ACS CAN

American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network - California ACS CAN The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) advocates for evidence-based public policies to reduce the cancer burden for everyone.

ACS CAN, the nonpartisan advocacy affiliate of the American Cancer Society, is the nation’s leading cancer advocacy organization that is working every day to make cancer issues a local, state, and national priority. We engage our volunteers across the country to make their voices heard by policymakers at every level of government. We believe everyone should have a fair and just opportunity to prev

ent, detect, treat, and survive cancer. Since 2001, as the American Cancer Society’s nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy affiliate, ACS CAN has successfully advocated for billions of dollars in cancer research funding, expanded access to quality affordable health care, and advanced proven to***co control measures. We stand with our volunteers—people whose lives have been impacted by cancer—rallying to demand change. Together, we’re working to make cancer a top priority for public officials and candidates at the federal, state, and local levels. By engaging advocates across the country to make their voices heard, ACS CAN influences legislative and regulatory solutions that will end cancer as we know it, for everyone. 🌈We’re celebrating Pride, this and every month, by participating in 80+ events nationwide 🌈 We’re especially excited to team up with Cheeky Charity on 50+ events to expand our impact, including WeHo Pride last week!

At ACS CAN, Pride is a time to honor the strength, culture, and contributions of LGBTQIA+ communities — while also recognizing there’s still more work to do.

💡 Did you know? LGBTQIA+ individuals face a disproportionate cancer burden, including barriers to prevention, screening, treatment, and survivorship care.

That’s why we’re committed to:
✅ Expanding access to affordable, quality care
✅ Eliminating cancer disparities
✅ Breaking down barriers to prevention and early detection

During , we celebrate survivors and honor the strength behind every story. We’re deeply grateful to the advocates who share their powerful experiences to help others and drive the fight against cancer forward.

When cancer is caught early, the 5-year survival rate for many cancers exceeds 90%, a reminder of why access to care and early detection matter.

ACS CAN continues to advocate for evidence-based policies that save lives and reduce the cancer burden for everyone. Here in California, we’re calling on lawmakers this legislative session to:
✅ Increase access to lung cancer screenings
✅ Prohibit the sale of to***co products in pharmacies
✅ Protect access to Medi-Cal

We’ll keep honoring survivors by working to advance policies that get us closer to ending cancer as we know it, for everyone.

We were excited to see Daniel Garibay Rodriguez at the Merced County Farm Bureau Candidate Forum and have a chance to ask him questions about where he stands on important cancer issues.

We would love to see where Adam C. Gray ,Vin Kruttiventi for Congress and Kevin Lincoln stand on important cancer issues.

Thank you to Senator Akilah Weber Pierson, M.D. for championing the California World No To***co Day Resolution and leading efforts to protect young people from harmful and addictive to***co products.

World No To***co Day is an important reminder that strong to***co control laws must be enacted and enforced to stop the to***co industry from addicting another generation of customers.
