Resource Recommendation: You Are Still a Mother: Hope for Women Grieving a Stillbirth or Miscarriage

Grieving the loss of a child to stillbirth can be a lonely and agonizing experience. Sadly, this overwhelming loss is far more common than one may think, affecting around 1 in 160 births. Gibson honestly acknowledges the sorrow, the loneliness, and fears that come from suffering the loss of a child while pointing to the gospel with gentleness and understanding.

-A New Year's Prayer for Those Hurting -

Father God,
I admit I am afraid. As this new year begins, I don’t know what lies ahead. I know You are here and that nothing happens outside Your sight, yet my heart still trembles. Help me feel Your presence and cling to Your promises—to guide, carry, and strengthen me. When I am weak, You are strong; don’t let me forget that.

I am tired of carrying the broken pieces of my life. As I step into this new year, bring light to the dark places, hope to the desperate ones, and real help so I may find rest. Whatever this year brings, You are already there. You know the end from the beginning.

When I want to give up, speak courage to my soul. Lift my head and help my heart hold on.

Traditions during the holidays can provide a sweet way to honor your lost baby, A way to celebrate a life that is and always will be a part of your family.

One way is to find an organization that is meaningful to you and your family to donate gifts to in honor of your baby.

"I have a 4 year old and she picked out a couple of gifts for my son and we donated them to the local children's home."-Lanea Furst

Just like in all grief, there is no one 'right' way to honor your baby throughout the holidays. We pray the ideas we share throughout the month would create joy in your heart as you feel the freedom to celebrate and honor your baby this Christmas. We pray that they would also spark conversation with those closest to you about how you would like to incorporate some of these ideas in your own Christmas traditions.

Parents grieving the loss of a baby through abortion, miscarriage, or stillbirth often find comfort in honoring their little one with a ceremony. A memorial can be a tender step toward healing, and it gives family and friends a way to express their love and acknowledge the baby’s place in their lives.

Every element of the memorial garden was thoughtfully designed to offer peace to all who visit. At its center stands a wooden cross — a powerful reminder of Jesus, who gave His life for us and triumphed over the grave.

As Infant Loss Awareness Month wraps up, consider what it would look like to support those in need. Whether or not you’ve experienced a loss, one of the best ways to participate is by offering support to those around you. Consider attending a support group, being there for someone who is grieving, or sharing posts on social media to raise awareness.

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month—a time to honor lost children, support grieving families, and raise awareness.

One way to participate is to create a memory space to remember your baby: write their name in the sand, plant a tree, or bury a time capsule. Our memorial garden also offers a Remembrance Wall where your child’s name can be engraved as a lasting tribute.

One meaningful way to take part in Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month is by joining the International Wave of Light. On October 15th at 7 PM, light a candle for at least one hour in remembrance of the babies who left us too early. No matter where you are, your light will join a global wave of remembrance, symbolizing love and connection across the world.
