The County Welfare Directors Association of California - CWDA - is a nonprofit association representing the human service directors from each of California’s 58 counties.

For 100 years, the County Welfare Directors Association of California (CWDA) has worked alongside counties, state leaders, advocates, and community partners to strengthen California's health and human services system. From vital programs like Adult Protective Services, CalFresh and Medi-Cal to IHSS and CalWORKs, we have driven innovation and improved service delivery for millions of Californians. Today we look back at some of the milestones that demonstrate CWDA's commitment to strengthening families and child welfare.

Thank you, Governor Gavin Newsom for signing two bills that strengthen California’s commitment to keeping families together safely.

AB 1201 (Assemblymember Corey Jackson) expands support for safe, family reunification so foster youth can benefit from relationships with their parents or guardians.

AB 2478 (Schultz, sponsored by CWDA) strengthens California’s commitment to placing children with family and other trusted adults when they cannot safely remain at home.

For youth in the child welfare system, the benefits of family connection are clear. CWDA is proud to have worked with legislative champions to advance these life-changing measures to improve outcomes for our kids.
