Mental Health Check-In 🤍

A reminder that you do not have to have everything figured out right now.
Healing isn’t linear. Rest is productive. And showing up for yourself — even in small ways — still counts.

Take a moment to check in with yourself today:
• How are you really feeling?
• What do you need more of?
• What’s one thing you’re proud of yourself for making it through?

Save this post for the days that feel heavy.
Share it with someone who may need the reminder.
Comment one thing you’re doing to take care of yourself this week.

Barriers may continue to grow, but social workers will continue to show up.

This moment reflects exactly why this year’s NASW-CA Conference theme, Resistance, Resilience & Resolve, matters more than ever.

Recent federal changes are making it harder for social work students to afford their education — creating even greater barriers for the future of the profession. Fewer social workers means fewer communities receiving mental health care, addiction support, crisis intervention, and services for vulnerable populations.

Social work is a profession, and no ruling will stop social workers from fighting for the communities that depend on them.

NASW is actively working with Congress to advocate for solutions and protect the future of the profession.

We are excited to officially announce the selected theme for the 2026 NASW-CA Annual Conference:

Resistance, Resilience & Resolve

This year’s theme reflects the strength, advocacy, and collective resilience social workers continue to demonstrate while advancing healing, equity, and change across California communities.

Congratulations to Christina Rocha, DSW Candidate at Tulane University, whose submission inspired this year’s conference theme.

The next phase is now officially open — the 2026 NASW-CA Logo Contest.

We are inviting designers, artists, students, creatives, and community members to help bring this year’s conference vision to life through logo design.

Submission Period: May 4 – May 25, 2026

Social work has always existed within larger systems of power, identity, policy, and resistance. Join the Asian Pacific Islander Social Work Council – South for an important in-person conversation exploring the intersections of social work, identity, and injustice.

Featuring Dr. Yoosun Park of the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy & Practice (SP2), this discussion will examine how immigration, historical social work practices, and systemic inequities continue to shape communities and institutions today.

Dr. Park will be joined in conversation with Carol Kim Chung, MSW, LCSW, creating space for reflection, dialogue, and critical engagement around the profession’s role in both harm and healing.
