California Council of Land Trusts CCLT is a partnership of land trusts working to conserve California's land and water for all Californians. Follow us for CA conservation news!

Strong land trusts are a powerful and effective way to protect California’s extraordinary land and water resources. Our vision is that land trusts will undertake strategic, effective, and community-based land and water conservation because they are equipped with the knowledge, funding and laws to do so. By combining the passion of people to protect and enjoy our natural heritage with the expertise and financial wherewithal to succeed, CCLT leads the effort to conserve California’s beauty, agriculture, wildlife, open space and recreational resources today and tomorrow.

Thank you Governor Gavin Newsom for signing AB 1668 and AB 1802! We appreciate your support for the work of land trusts and their role in preserving California!

Passing both bills serves as an important victory for California’s land trusts and the conservation community. These accomplishments reflect CCLT’s continued advocacy to strengthen land conservation and ensure land trusts have the tools and resources necessary to advance conservation throughout California.

We are grateful to Assemblymember Gail Pellerin, and Assemblymember Catherine Stefani for championing these bills in the Legislature and for their continued support of the work of California Land Trusts.

CCLT is offering a two-part workshop in partnership with GreenInfo Network to provide support for land trusts to further develop their internal GIS capabilities and learn how to include their protected lands in California’s 30x30 initiative, a statewide program to conserve 30 percent of the state's lands and coastal waters by 2030.

Join us on Thursday, August 27, at 10:00 AM for the first workshop, Beginner-Friendly GIS for Land Trusts. This workshop is open to individuals from land trusts with minimal GIS skills to increase their familiarity and learn about core GIS tools. This 60-minute workshop will involve a presentation on the benefits of GIS for land trusts and a short hands-on learning session in QGIS, an open source GIS software package, to start to familiarize participants with GIS capabilities.
