Happy Anniversary!

In 1960, 20-30 International and Active International both voted unanimously to merge into one organization.

“The DATE of August 1, 1960 will be remembered as the most significant in our history since the founding of 20-30, for on that day the merger of Active and 20-30 International became a reality. Both groups will retain their present administrative structures until the joint international convention in Tucson next summer, but for all other intents and purposes we are now one combine organization.” – Clint McClure, President, 20-30 International

“It is a logical step enabling two service-minded groups to combine their talents and enthusiasm in order to better serve their communities and their countries.” - Owen Barnes President, Active International

Wednesday Weekly Theme Challenge (WWTC)
(June 12 - 18) Convention Memories

What is (at least) one memory that you always think about regarding conventions? One that you like to tell new members to show how fun these are? Or a memory that makes you keep going every year? Is it because they are in new locations? A tradition at convention you love?

Including a photo with your memory would be great.
(seen here: 1939 photo in the newspaper)

The next 2 months will be full of end of terms for clubs, and going to national and international conventions. Let's make this week an easy one. What are some topics, memories, or items (clothes, pins, hats, koozies, etc) we can create weekly challenges with? Please comment with ideas.
Are there enough activities or random things to create a convention bingo card?

Wednesday Weekly Theme Challenge (WWTC)
(May 29 - June 4) Upcoming Convention Challenges

Whoops, I never answered the question about the 1st project for Active 20-30. Way back, for 20-30 it was a hearing aid. Not sure what Active did. need more research.

Wednesday Weekly Theme Challenge (WWTC)
(May 22-28) Early Service Projects
I recently heard a fun bit of trivia regarding Rotary’s first service project. It was to create comfort stations (public toilets) to improve sanitation in Chicago. That made me curious about what the first project was for Active 20-30. Care to guess?
Find out the answer tomorrow.

This week’s challenge is to find out what your club's earliest project was. Or, what is the first project you helped with when you joined?

Photo is a 1938 newspaper article about 20-30’s universal fingerprinting campaign.

Wednesday Weekly Theme Challenge (WWTC)
(Feb 21 - 28) Nicknames

This is one of many traditions while a member in Active 20-30. What is your nickname(s)? How did you get it? Bonus points if you have a photo to go along with when you earned it or just fits with your name (as long as it’s clean).

We receive quite a few nicknames throughout our lifetime. Parents and other family members can give you one, classmates, friends, and maybe co-workers. You might receive one while in clubs or sports. It makes for a great bonding / memory making experience with people.

Most of the time you earn a name from your club members for something that you do, say, or it might represent you. Sometimes members from other clubs give you one while at conventions or events. And sometimes you can purchase a name (clubs that do this please expand on this tradition).

Pin it on Tuesday
Going on with the theme of Presidents, here are a few pins found in the collection.
This is a weekly feature to show off all the wonderful pins. Let us know of any you would like to share. Please include the story behind the pin, if you know the year, how you got it (any fun trade stories), or other memory you connect to that pin (for example, it’s a pin that represents your term as club president or going past active). Even if you don’t have info to include and it's just a neat pin you like, please share.

Wednesday Weekly Theme Challenge (WWTC)
(Feb 14 – 20): Presidential

In honor of it being President’s Day next Monday, we are going to make this mid-week’s challenge all things presidential. Thank you to all those that stepped up and took a chance, tried something new, helped your club and the organization do good in your communities, and became a leader and mentor to your fellow members.

- Does your club keep a list of presidents? Photos? Headshots, leading a meeting, or in action.
- Any Past Presidents want to share tips of wisdom they learned?
- Any past actives that have gone onto be president in some other capacity? President of another organization, business, or government?

Aberdeen and Sacramento clubs started in 1922. Governing boards overseeing clubs were formed in 1926. Since then, there has been at least 181 members that have been President (not counting club presidents)
- Association of 20-30 Clubs (1926 – 1945) 25
- 20-30 International (1946 – 1960) 14
- Active International (1926 – 1960) 37
- Active 20-30 International (1960 – current) 63
- National Associations (1982 - current) 42 for USA & Canada (not sure on the other countries)

These past actives went on to become president of their countries:
- Jose Napoleon Duarte - El Salvador
- Richard Nixon - United States of America
