A little walk down memory lane… ❤️
Came across this youth documentary we worked on several years ago focusing on our unhoused community. I had the privilege of helping lead this project in partnership with Future Development Youth Center and watching it again brought back so many memories.
This was filmed during COVID (2021)—which explains all the masks! And, ironically, despite our precautions, several of us actually caught COVID during the filming. 😷
Most memorable is the experience we were able to give our young people. They had the opportunity to step outside of their own world, meet people experiencing homelessness, hear their stories, ask questions, and see the human beings behind an issue we hear so much about.
That has always been an important part of working with youth: don't just tell them what to think—give them opportunities to experience, listen, learn, and develop their own understanding.
Some projects stay with you. This was one of them. ❤️
