Great to join Housing California,Transbay Coalition, and a large coalition of advocates in today's rally to stand up for transit, housing, clean air, and clean water.

Climate investments are community investments. We must protect the funding that supports affordable housing, transportation, healthier communities, and California’s climate goals.

Grateful to stand with partners across the state to protect these critical investments and build a healthier, more affordable California.

Thank you Telemundo 33 for inviting Sacramento Housing Alliance to share why affordable housing matters for Sacramento.

Communities like Mutual Housing California's San Juan Apartments demonstrate what every family deserves: a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home.

Affordable housing isn’t just about putting a roof over someone’s head – it’s about creating the foundation for people, families and communities to thrive.

The Sacramento region needs more homes that people can afford, and we’ll continue advocating for policies and investments that make that possible.

Thank you FOX40 for inviting Sacramento Housing Alliance to speak about the importance of affordable housing alongside Mutual Housing California and their recently opened San Juan Apartments in South Sacramento.

“It was very moving to be able to talk to some of the [San Juan] residents and hear their stories about how important it was for them to move into these apartments… and [n]ow the challenge that we have is to assure that we have continued funding available [through Prop 1] to make sure that more properties like this come online” - Julio Lamas, Executive Director, Sacramento Housing Alliance.

Earlier this week, the Sacramento Housing Alliance joined Sacramento Area Congregations Together in supporting the City of Sacramento's effort to explore the use of potential surplus SCERS funds to create an Affordable Housing Revolving Loan Fund.

We encouraged City leaders to prioritize affordability, engage community stakeholders in program design, and focus investments where they can have the greatest impact. We look forward to continuing the conversation and working with partners to expand housing opportunities across Sacramento.

We would like to thank Yolo County Housing Authority (YCH) for providing a construction tour of their new affordable housing development, the River Grove Apartments in West Sacramento.

According to YCH, River Grove Apartments, a 37-unit housing development, will provide affordable rental units for extremely low-income households, all supported by project-based vouchers. The development will include 18 units for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) through a partnership with Alta California Regional Center (ACRC), as well as four units designated for veterans through the HUD-VASH program.

The community will also offer comprehensive on-site supportive services designed to promote housing stability and resident well-being. Services will include case management, connections to community resources, life-skills development, employment and education support, and community-building activities.

We are excited to see this community come to life and open its doors in 2027!

SHA was proud to join Mutual Housing California, member organization and affordable housing developer, for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of San Juan Apartments in South Sacramento.

The former motel has been transformed into a 113-unit affordable housing community serving families earning between 30% and 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). During the event, residents shared how access to stable, affordable housing is already making a meaningful difference in their lives.

Located along Stockton Boulevard, the community provides convenient access to parks, transit, and essential services. In addition to addressing a critical housing need, the development supports broader neighborhood revitalization efforts and serves as a strong example of successful infill development.

Congratulations to the many partners whose collaboration made this project possible.

The completion of San Juan Apartments marks Phase I of the development. Plans for Phase II include approximately 70 additional units of affordable senior housing, further expanding housing opportunities for Sacramento residents.

SHA is proud to celebrate this important milestone and the continued commitment of our members and partners to expanding affordable housing opportunities throughout West Sacramento and the broader Sacramento region.

Congratulations to Jamboree Housing Corporation and all of the partners who helped bring this impactful community to life.
