Investigative genetic genealogists with the DNA Doe Project have found that Minneapolis Rail Car John Doe has roots in Poland, specifically the region of Boronów, Silesian Voivodeship. Additionally, we have commissioned a new facial reconstruction of this man from renowned forensic artist Carl Koppelman. Members of the public who have Polish heritage are encouraged to upload their DNA profiles to GEDmatch.com, DNAJustice.org, and FamilyTreeDNA.com to help us solve this case. They can also contact [email protected] if they have any information that may be useful as we work to identify this man.

Today is National DNA Day.

Every DNA sample tells a story, but some stories are still waiting to be finished.

Right now, thousands of unidentified individuals are waiting to be named, and families are still searching.

At DNA Doe Project, we’ve seen how one DNA match can change everything.

That one match could be you.

Take action today:
- Order your DNA test
- Upload to GEDmatch, DNA Justice or FamilyTreeDNA
- Help bring someone home

As National Crime Victims’ Rights Week comes to a close, we reflect on the impact of this work and our commitment to justice for victims and their families.

We are honored to receive the 2026 Justice for Victims Award for our work on the 1980 Ventura County Jane Doe case, now identified as Maricela Rocha Parga. This milestone is a testament to the dedication of our volunteers, partners, and team.

To Maricela’s family, we honor her life and stand with you.

We are grateful to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney Erik Nasarenko for this meaningful recognition.

There is still more work to be done. Visit www.dnadoeproject.org to learn more and support our mission.

National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is April 19–25. This week, we join the nation in honoring the individuals whose stories inspire our work. At the DNA Doe Project, we believe that every person deserves to have their name and story returned to them. You can help us restore identity and find justice for John and Jane Does.

Here’s how:
1. Share a Case: Follow us and share our case posts. A single share could be the key to identifying a loved one.

2. Doe-Nate to a Fund: Help cover the cost of lab work. Every donation funds essential investigations that bring answers to families.

3. Upload Your DNA: Your DNA data can solve a case. Upload your profile from an ancestry service to GEDmatch, DNA Justice or FamilyTreeDNA to become the missing link.
