❤️ The First Love — A 40-Day Journey to Fall in Love with Each Other Again — Day 15. If you want to change the world, kiss your wife first

Maybe you dream of leaving your mark on history. Maybe you’re chasing success and recognition. And somewhere along the way, you begin to neglect your family. You tell yourself that now is not the time for tenderness.

First, you need to succeed in ministry. Build the business. Change the world… Your loved ones can wait. But no great idea will save a relationship if there is no love and warmth at home.

A woman can endure many things — financial struggles, exhaustion, uncertainty. You won’t lose your wife because you didn’t achieve every dream or because things didn’t go according to plan.

But if you keep postponing your woman “until later,” one day love may become just a memory. And instead of two close hearts, there will be two tired strangers who call themselves a family.

You stop living when you stop loving. Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God… and your neighbor as yourself. Do this and you will live”. (Luke 10: 27-28)

Life is the greatest gift given to you by God. But life has no meaning without love.

Maybe the circumstances of your birth were not the best. Maybe you were born into an incomplete family. Perhaps you don’t know who your father is. Or, maybe nobody wanted you to be born. None of these circumstances matter. God gave you life to overcome death through love.

Love starts with the family. Our family is the school of love. It’s in our family that we learn to forgive, accept, surrender and love one another despite anything. God created family as a place of love. So if love dies, so does the family.

The church is the family of God, and through the church we begin to love everyone. Our faith must be motivated by love (Galatians 5: 6), and nothing makes sense without love (1 Corinthians 13: 3). Love is the power of the Gospel. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3: 16)

If you have lost the joy of life, it means you have stopped loving. Perhaps the people who are close to you pushed you into the pit of rejection and threw at you stones of offense and bitterness. None of this matters. God’s love never stops. His love is enough to raise you from the dead and give you back the joy of life.

God proved His love for us by having Jesus suffer and die on the cross for our sins. Now you don’t have to suffer and you don’t have to die. That is the meaning of the Good News – the Gospel. Jesus came so that you may have life and have it more abundantly (John 10: 10).

Come to the risen Jesus today and accept His love. Start loving Him and the people around you, and you will see how your life will be filled with meaning, joy and happiness. Start loving and be loved. Do this and you will live.

❤️ The First Love — A 40-Day Journey to Fall in Love with Each Other Again — Day 14. Rest with each other — not from each other

When you feel tired, what do you usually do? Do you move closer to the one you love — or do you pull away?

Rest is not a luxury. It’s a necessity. Built-up exhaustion is one of the reasons coldness creeps into a relationship. When we are drained, we no longer have the energy to be attentive or gentle with each other.

In those moments, rest can start to feel like an escape — even from each other. “I need time for myself… I just want to relax… I need to be alone…” Sound familiar?

Problems bring people closer to God, and problems push people away from God. “Jesus looked around and saw them following. ‘What do you want?’ He asked them”. (John 1: 38)

When two of John’s disciples left him and followed Christ, Jesus asked them, “What do you want?” (John 1: 37) At that time, Jesus did not have a single follower. So such a question sounded quite unusual from the lips of the person who was supposed to become their leader. But first of all Jesus wanted us to understand why we follow Him. If we clarify this reason, we will be able to understand how successful we will become in our Christian life.

People come to God because of problems. If their problems are not solved, they usually leave Him. But what happens if the Lord helps someone overcome their troubles? Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that the person will continue to follow Christ. For example, someone who does not have a job goes to Church and asks for prayer. But when God answers the prayer, the person becomes so busy that his work takes him away from the Church and he forgets about the Lord. Here is another example. If a person has problems with his health, he asks God to heal him. But when God does it, the person stops praying and seeking the Lord.

“What do you want?” Jesus asked His first disciples. And the same question keeps sounding through all the ages. It is written in John 1: 39 that Peter and Andrew followed Christ because they wanted to be close to the Lord. Later Christ had many other followers. Some people followed Him because Jesus could feed them, others needed miracles. Many people were only attracted to Christ because of His fame and popularity. But Jesus never relied on such people or made them part of His team. He appreciated when people followed Him for who He actually was, not because of what He could give them.

Today the Lord Jesus is asking the same question to each one of us: “What do you want? Why are you following Me?” If you follow Him to get something from Him, your motivation will end, and you will become spiritual bankrupt. But if you follow Jesus because you love Him, nothing will be able to stop you.

❤️ The First Love — A 40-Day Journey to Fall in Love with Each Other Again — Day 13. Truth without love wounds, and love without truth is dangerous

In family life, we inevitably speak the truth to one another. But it’s not only what we say that matters — it’s how we say it. Honesty without love hurts. Gentleness without truth confuses.

When we speak truth without love, it becomes a weapon. The truth may be accurate, but it feels cold and harsh. Instead of healing, it wounds the heart of the one we love.

But love without truth is just as dangerous. Love without truth is blind and shallow. If we stay silent about something important or ignore a problem in the name of love, we’re not protecting the family — we’re putting its future at risk.

If you judge people, you will not have time to love them. “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged”. (Matthew 7: 1)

Before Christ, people perceived God unclearly, as through the dimmed glass. But in Christ, God Himself came to us, so that we could clearly understand who He is. “The Father and I are one, anyone who has seen me has seen the Father,” – Jesus proclaimed as the purpose of His coming to this earth. (John 10: 30, 14: 9)

That’s why God gave us four Gospels so that we could carefully study who Jesus was, what His character was like, and what he was doing. In Christ, the Creator acquired the form of a human being and came to us. If you want to know what God is like – look at Jesus. Everything that Jesus did, God is doing the same. And everything that He didn’t do, God isn’t doing it.

One of the most amazing qualities of Jesus, which we see recorded in the Gospels, was His kindness and compassion. Jesus was responding to the requests of the people and would even change His plans for them. Jesus’ mother brought to Jesus the concern that the wedding party ran out of wine. Jesus told her very clearly that He would not do anything about this problem. But she pretended that she didn’t hear Him and, in actuality, forced Him to do a miracle.

Jesus was responsive to people, allowed them to manipulate Him, and was gracious and patient with their mistakes. He was kind and people were in love with Him. In the Old Testament, God proclaimed that He is the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in love (Exodus 34: 6). In the New Testament, Jesus revealed God’s love to us. The full power of this love was manifested on the cross when Jesus prayed for those who were crucifying Him.

I want all humans to be believers, and all believers to be human. People hide their imperfections under their religious coverup, which makes them unreachable for the transforming power of God’s love. These religious coverups allow people to look proper, but they make them heartless and cruel.

❤️ The First Love — A 40-Day Journey to Fall in Love with Each Other Again — Day 12. Sometimes it’s better to yield than to win

In marriage, we can confuse two words: victory and love. We think that if we insist on our point and prove we’re right, we’ve won.

But if after that conversation you walk into separate rooms, the truth becomes clear: there may be a winner — but love has stepped out.

That kind of victory rarely brings peace. You may feel a brief rush of triumph. But it’s soon replaced by heaviness and loneliness.
