The University of California Student Association (UCSA) is a coalition of UC students and student governments aimed at increasing the accessibility, affordability and quality of the UC system through advocacy and direct action organizing. UCSA is a student-run, membership-based organization, with a Board of Directors made up entirely of students and a full-time staff led by an Executive Director.

URGENT CALL FOR ACTION 🚨‼️

Earlier this month the California State Senate suspended ACA 18, a critical constitutional amendment to expand the representation of students on the UC Board of Regents.

We are calling on all students to join us in this fight and get ACA 18 off of suspense before the August 31st legislative deadline. THIS IS OUR ONLY CHANCE ‼️

Each year the UC Student Association has the power to select undergraduate students to be apart of system-wide committees. These committees (as shown) shape the UC and its future. We are looking for students across the system to get involved and make a lasting difference. Interested? APPLY by August 25th.

Last week, UCSA joined Senator Eloise Gómez Reyes and our partners at the CA Student Aid Commission Commission to designate October as “Student Financial Aid Awareness Month” with SCR 195, empowering every student and family with the resources and access to apply for financial aid they need to pursue higher education. 🏆💰💸

UCSA extends our deepest appreciation to Senator Eloise Gómez Reyes for championing financial aid for all during her time in the Legislature, and for recognizing this important issue, especially in time for October 1st—when FAFSA and the CA DREAM Act Application open—reinforcing California’s commitment to college access and affordability. 🗣️📈⚖️

This weekend, UCSA recognized our outgoing President and recent UC Davis | California's College Town Aggie alumna, Aditi Hariharan, for her outstanding service over the past two years—Leading our Association by representing the voice and interests of over 237,000 undergraduate students across the UC system. 💐💙🏆 Thank you Senator Eloise Gómez Reyes for the incredible recognition of Aditi’s service and congratulations on her recent gradution as a UC Davis Alumni. 🎓

Our Board of Directors also elected our 2026-27 President, Candice Phan, who is a rising senior at UC Davis studying sociology. Candice was the ASUCD Legislative Director under the ASUCD External Affairs Vice President Simrit Singh, and served as UCSA Government Relations Chair over the past year, leading our state and federal policy agenda. 🙌🗣️

Congratulations to Aditi and Candice, making UC Davis proud while stepping up to serve a quarter million UC students across the state! 🏆🏆🏆

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — Read our statement on the final 2026-27 state budget and an update on where our priority bills are in the legislative process. 💰🙌🗣️

UCSA thanks the Governor and Legislature for investing in the UC, signing a budget that includes important investments to housing, financial aid and food security, and funding our $20 million basic needs and disability services emergency request! 🏡🍎🥬♿️📈

We also extend deep gratitude to our legislative champions of our 2026 policy agenda, including ACA 18 by Assemblymember Jessica Caloza, AB 713 by José Luis Solache Jr., AB 1669 by Assemblywoman Blanca Pacheco, SB 1255 by Senator Eloise Gómez Reyes and AB 2374 by Assemblymember Mike Fong!!! UC students thank you for your leadership on bold solutions to address students’ most pressing challenges, and look forward to passing these bills to strengthen California education for all! 🏆

Join us in welcoming our incoming cohort of student-leaders who will be leading the UC Student Association over the next year. We just wrapped up our new Board Orientation and July Board Meeting at UC San Diego / UCSD. 🔱

From learning about the structure and history of the UC and student advocacy, to hands-on skills building and leadership development, we can’t wait to get to work for the 237,000+ students we serve. See you all at UCSOS in Pomona next month! 💙

After funding for disability services was set to run out and our basic needs and housing centers were struggling, students at the UC answered the call to mobilize. And we know that when students mobilize, WE WIN!

A special and warm thank you to the students who mobilized, staff that provided testimonies, and Senator Sasha Renée Pérez for championing this ask!

This funding intends to support critical student service staff in DSP centers, Basic Needs Centers, and Housing services and infrastructure and hope that students will begin to see improvements to care very soon 🖤❤️💛🤍🩵💚🖤
