State workers rising ✊
On Labor Day, California's state workers rose up! They're taking a stand against the illegal actions by Gavin to try to break the will of the labor movement.

In what promises to be a catastrophic setback for the Governor's union-busting efforts, SEIU Local 1000, representing 95,000 state workers, just announced a strike authorization vote.

Local 1000 took this step after months of bad faith bargaining, a unilaterally-imposed return-to-office mandate, and being out of contract for 39 days and counting. They chose to hold a vote amidst the backdrop of no raises combined with furloughs. With Local 1000 already having held strike schools, the possibility of a head-on confrontation with boss Gavin Newsom, who has refused to do anything to help his employees suffering with low wages and no raises amidst an acute cost-of-living crisis, appears to be a very real possibility.

Local 1000 leadership are urging members to make their voices heard in favor of a strike.

Will this shot across the bow be enough to scare Gavin and the billionaire class? Or will members need to flex their power and show him what happens when he messes with 95,000 fired-up people whose working conditions have been ensh*ttified?

We had an amazing opportunity to join hundreds of pro immigrant rights leaders across the nation to attend La Defensa Del Pueblo Summit on Sunday. Sacramento was in the house, alongside faith leaders, community organizers, educators, artists, activists, and more to learn how to collectively fight and organize against the billionaires' fascist agenda.

We are leaving with an iron-clad optimism and a strengthing steadfastness to fight back against the billionaire agenda that terrorizes the people.
Among the many lessons we learned this weekend, we are leaving with a strong sense of the importance of community and solidarity. Our power is in building strong, working-class organizations and coalitions.

Thank you to everyone who brought their revolutionary spirit this weekend, especially VC Defensa.
