Hmong Youth and Parents United A community-based organization that works to improve the lives of all individuals, and celebrate and preserve the Hmong language and culture.

HYPU is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in North Sacramento that began with wanting to provide more service to Hmong students and parents. Today, we have a variety of services and programs serving all communities. Its Board of Directors is composed of Hmong parents, professionals, and entrepreneurs. HYPU continues to be resilient and committed to preserving our culture and language while also providing programs that promote education, youth empowerment, civic engagement, self-discovery, health equity, and economic development.

HYPU participated in a Neighborhood Development Action Team workshop focused on strengthening community engagement in local government. The discussion explored how residents can make their voices heard through public comment, City Council meetings, and opportunities to connect with the City Clerk.

Of course, our Senior Day Program is having a fantastic time! 💕 Today, our seniors got creative and had so much fun painting self-portraits of themselves!
It is a wonderful way to express creativity, share laughter, and celebrate the beautiful individuals they are. Seeing our seniors enjoy these moments together is truly heartwarming.

HYPU welcomed Jerry and Kamie from California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) to present a workshop for our Community Ambassadors and staff on employment services for people with disabilities. The workshop covered career planning, job preparation, training, education, and job placement.

Our ambassadors can now share these resources with families who have youth or loved ones with IDD seeking pathways to employment. Thank you, Jerry and Kamie, for your time and knowledge with our team!

Hmong Youth and Parents United was founded in 2008. What began as a grassroots organization has grown into a community center serving more than 5,000 youth and hundreds of families.
