Fifty years ago, CANP was founded, giving California’s nurse practitioners a voice in Sacramento.

What started as an idea at a pool party among UC Davis students has grown to become the only organization in California solely dedicated to fighting for NP practice. Hear from Mary Margaret Baker, CANP’s founding president, as she reflects on founding CANP.

Why don’t nurse practitioners have full practice authority in California? That is the question CANP is constantly asking California’s lawmakers. Nurse practitioners are trained to offer high-quality, patient-centered care and can help California close gaps in access to care.

Help us continue to move California’s healthcare system forward. Learn more about how you can get involved at canpweb.org.
