My fellow citizens, friends, well-wishers, ladies and gentlemen. I, Charles Cecil Dennis III, have come to encourage and mobilize you - and to set those who have ridiculed and are out to stop us on notice. My fellow countrymen, we have spent enough time living in our misfortunes- being told what we can and cannot do as a nation, that we cannot rebuild our lives; those are false and misleading. We can rebuild our lives, so we must stop believing such inconsistencies for our lives, for we are better than what they made us think we are. We are stronger together and we can accomplish anything together. So let us not live in the shadows of small minded folks. Let's start from where we have failed. We can go back to where we missed our opportunities and study what was missed. We can build the drive to succeed and make meaningful changes to our very existence.
The time has come for us to rise above our setbacks and change the destiny of our future. We must keep on climbing until we rise to the top; the past can no longer hold us down for we have been down too long. Though rain falls made our paths on the hill slippery we have always shined through grains - as we glaze through the rain beyond our slippery terrain. Thunder and lightning, darkness and setbacks, trials and difficulties have never kept us down. We Liberians are survivors, we break through rocks to grace the sky. We cannot allow ourselves to be manipulated any longer therefore rise up my fellow compatriots and let's embrace our destiny together. Let's take back our sunshine for the rain in our cloud can no longer hold us back.
We have stopped running and have started standing. There's no longer a hiding place left in us. We are on the out fence - attacking our situation - no more defending, we are on the attack. We will face this nightmare head on - henceforth - once and for all. We will not back-down nor bend over. We will not be suppressed. We will not be pushed aside. We will not step away. We will not be walked on. We will not be stepped on. We will not be jumped over. We will not be used or abused. We have refused your constant condemnations. Your inconsiderate words of discrimination will no longer sadden us. We are awakened and know our worth. We know our right and will stand up henceforth. Your days of mind control is over. When we were lost and confused, scared and alone you took advantage of our broken spirit and used our emptiness to abuse our integrity.
How dare you take advantage of us in the time of our vulnerabilities? How dare you step on us when we were down? How dare you use our mistakes to scandalize our names? How dare you use our mistakes to separate us? How dare you use our resources to sell us weapons to destroy each other? How dare you suppress us in our moment of destitute? Oh you who took advantage of us in our moment of sadness, oh you who took advantage of us during time of shame, hear me now; listen to me very attentively.
We stood with you during the time of your problem.
We supported you in the time of your need. We gave you our shoulders and bend over backwards for you when all others turned their backs on you. However, in the time of our troubles, you turned your back on us and mocked our situation. Oh you who have mocked us - hear me now - listen to me very attentively. You have troubled trouble and now trouble is about to trouble you. You have awakened the warrior in us and - there's no worries in us. We are coming! Our hurts are under our feet and the fire of determination is in our eyes. The love of our nation is on our heart and there's no stopping us now. The will to succeed is on our minds and in our hands. Oh hear me now you manipulators, we have taken a stand and are coming. We are coming focused and determined to take back what is rightfully ours, our dignity and sovereignty.
Though we have made mistakes - we won't let our mistakes hold us down. The circumstances of our past mistakes is the motivation of our current determination.
You have never seen us this focused. We are persistent and our consistency will ensure our success. We won't let you remind us of our shortcomings. We've made our bed, and we've lay in it. We've learned from our mistakes and our shortcomings no longer determine our future.
Therefore to those out there hoping to stop us, be warned. Your days of making us feel worthless of ourselves are over. We are turning a new page of our misery into victory.
We're turning our hurts - into hunting - our broken spirits - into inspiration - and there's no stopping us now. The smile we now wear are of determination, devotion and dedication to take back our destiny.
We will fight through walls if we have to but, we are taking back our dignity and integrity and there's no stopping us now. We will climb mountains if they stand in our paths. We will dig through oceans if we have to hold our breath. We will walk on clouds if we have to be upside down. We will crawl on our knees through the tunnels until we see the light. In the midst of this battle we will not lose hope; we will not give up; we will not be pushed back; we will not give in. We will not let you win. We will fight until our last breath so be warned.
We are not holding back no more so move; get out of our way. Step away, step aside there's no stopping of this train. We are moving with full speed forward ever, backwards never. We won't see you; we won't hear you; we won't stop. We won't pay you no mind; our attention is turned away from you. We are now focused and determined. We are standing up and taking back control. We are taking back our lives and you can't stop us from rebuilding our lives. Henceforth you are warned, move.
You are further served and have been put on notice. The days of your mind control are over. We are taking back our rightful place and there's no stopping us now.
So rise up my fellow citizens and let's take back our pride and dignity. Happy Independence Day to all.
God bless us all. God bless our Sweet Land of Liberty. God bless the people of Liberia, for in union our success is sure. C Cecil Dennis III
