What does our beauty routine have to do with our breast health? More than many of us have been taught to consider.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re expanding the conversation beyond screenings and pink ribbons to include the products we use on our bodies, hair, and skin every day.
Research continues to examine how chemicals found in some personal care and beauty products, including certain endocrine-disrupting chemicals, may interact with hormones and contribute to exposures relevant to breast health. And for Black women, this conversation matters. We are often heavily marketed beauty products while also experiencing significant disparities in breast cancer outcomes.

This isn’t about fear or telling Black women to stop participating in the beauty practices we love. It’s about information, transparency, and choice.

Ask questions. Read the label. Learn what’s in your products. Know your body. Get screened when appropriate. And advocate for a beauty industry that doesn’t ask us to choose between beauty and health.

The products we use on our skin, scalp, hair, and bodies are part of our everyday lives. But how often do we stop to ask what is actually in them, what the claims on the front of the package really mean, and what those choices may mean for our health over time?

On November 7, we are bringing together beauty professionals, health experts, entrepreneurs, advocates, and consumers for a virtual day of conversations designed specifically with Black consumers in mind.

We are talking about more than “clean beauty.”
We are talking about ingredient transparency.
Consumer rights.
Black hair and health.
The real cost of beauty standards.
Advocacy.
Innovation.

For Black men, prostate cancer awareness is personal.

Black men face a higher risk of developing prostate cancer and are more likely to die from the disease than men of other racial and ethnic groups. That’s why knowing your risk, knowing your family history, and having conversations about screening matter.

On World Prostate Cancer Day, we’re encouraging the men in our lives—our fathers, brothers, husbands, partners, sons, friends, and neighbors—to make their health a priority.

💙 Know your family history.
💙 Talk with your healthcare provider about individual risks.
💙 Ask when prostate cancer screening is appropriate for you.
💙 And encourage another Black man in your life to do the same.

For Black men and others at increased risk, those conversations may need to begin earlier.

Early detection can make a significant difference. And sometimes protecting our community starts with a simple conversation:

“Have you talked to your doctor about prostate cancer screening?”
