Research from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that workers with a bachelor's degree earn, on average, significantly more per week than those whose highest level of education is a high school diploma. While every student's path is unique, access to higher education and career exploration can expand the opportunities available to them.

In this activity, baking soda and vinegar react to create carbon dioxide gas, building pressure that sends foamy "lava" flowing from your homemade volcano. It's a fun, hands-on way to explore chemical reactions while practicing creativity, engineering, and measurement skills.

Try experimenting with different amounts of baking soda or vinegar and see how the eruption changes. What happens if you make your volcano taller? Which combination creates the biggest eruption? Every test is another chance to think like a scientist and engineer.

Remember to complete this experiment with an adult and use a tray or other easy-to-clean surface to catch the eruption.

STEAM Experiments: Rainbow Density Tower

Not all liquids are created equal! In this STEAM experiment, you'll build a colorful Rainbow Density Tower using common household liquids and discover how density affects where each one settles. By carefully layering each liquid, you'll create a vibrant tower while learning an important science concept that's used in everything from engineering to environmental science.

Try the experiment yourself and see if you can predict which liquids will sink and which will float before you pour. Then challenge yourself by changing the order or adding another liquid to see what happens. Science is all about asking questions, testing ideas, and making observations.

Materials:
• Honey
• Dish soap
• Water + food coloring
• Vegetable oil
• Rubbing alcohol (70%)
• Clear glass or jar
