Our Goals:

Saint Nia is committed to ensuring that student participants learn skills such as budgeting and financial planning and the importance of goal setting and finding a career versus just getting a job. During St. Nia's financial summits and other workshops, board members, community partners, and local entrepreneurs work hard to:

Provide an authentic, culturally sensitive curriculum for all students

Introduce new learning opportunities for students in grade 8-12

Ensure all kids have the support of a tutor and/or mentor

Improve parent-child relationships by encouraging family participation in our workshops

Not them learning real trades in middle school. Under the guidance of Mr. Jarrett, students are getting hands-on experience with tools, building projects from scratch, and discovering skills most kids are not introduced to until much later in life. It is the kind of early exposure that turns curiosity into confidence.

Instead of just reading about careers, these students are actively building, measuring, cutting, and assembling in real time. Each project teaches practical problem-solving and shows them how real-world trades actually function beyond the classroom.

Moments like this highlight how powerful early education can be when students are trusted with responsibility. Mr. Jarrett is not just teaching technical skills, he is helping young learners recognize their own potential before the world has a chance to define it.

What a night! After five years, the plague doctor returned to Sacramento! A time was had tonight at the Sactown Youth Night Trunk or Treat and we enjoyed being out in the community. We hope you all enjoyed the candy and vibes. One youth knew exactly who/what the plague doctor was as they'd just learned about the Black Plague in school. πŸ€“ Many thanks to Escape Velocity Resource Foundation, INC. for the opportunity to participate. Happy Halloween to all! πŸŽƒπŸ‘»

Check out our holiday flyer if you are in a position to donate to help those who are food insecure and without a home this holiday season. We have some mutual aid projects planned for the end of the year and the holiday season for those who need it most. Our flyer is enclosed here.

Starting in the 2025–26 academic year, Harvard University is making a historic expansion of its financial aid program. Under this new initiative, families earning $100,000 or less annually will have all costs of attending Harvard fully covered. This includes tuition, room, board, health insurance, fees, and even travel expenses. For families earning between $100,000 and $200,000, tuition will be completely free, while additional financial support will be provided based on their financial circumstances.

This move is aimed at making Harvard education more accessible to middle-income families. Traditionally, even highly qualified students often had to weigh the dream of attending an elite university against the burden of student debt. By removing these financial barriers, Harvard is empowering talented students to focus on learning, innovation, and personal growth rather than worrying about cost. The initiative is projected to benefit a large majority of U.S. households, roughly 86%, who fall within these income brackets.

The expansion reflects Harvard’s ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that talented students from all economic backgrounds can pursue world-class education. This change will likely influence other universities to reconsider their own financial aid strategies, potentially sparking broader reforms in higher education affordability.

For students and families dreaming of Harvard, this is game-changing news, proving that academic opportunity should not be limited by income. It’s a step toward a future where talent, not wealth, determines access to elite education.
