It is with a heavy heart that I have to report that or brother, Scott Plotkin, had gone to be with the Great Architect of the Universe. I don't have the specifics, but I know he went in for open heart surgery 5 days ago.
His wife Patti reached out to share the news.
For those who didn't know him, Scott was the Secretary of our lodge for several years. He was one of the nicest people and am excellent representation of the craft. He and his wife moved to Montana several years ago, but still talked of how much he enjoyed being a Mason and brother of Oak Plains Lodge.

One of the most common questions we hear is: Is Freemasonry a religion? The answer is no.

is not a religion, nor is it a substitute for one. Instead, it encourages members to be active in their own faith traditions while remaining open and respectful toward the beliefs of others.

At the same time, Freemasonry requires its members to believe in a "Supreme Being." Masonic traditions include references to God, sacred texts, and moral teachings, which often leads people to wonder how Freemasonry relates to religion.

On our website, we explore this topic through one of Masonry’s central concepts: the Supreme Architect of the Universe: https://freemason.org/what-is-freemasonry/is-freemasonry-a-religion
