American Leadership Forum - Mountain Valley Chapter

The American Leadership Forum is dedicated to joining and strengthening leaders for the greater public good of our region. www.alf-mvc.org

Since 1981, the American Leadership Forum, a national non-profit organization, has dedicated its work to revitalizing leadership within communities across the nation. Established in 1997, the Mountain Valley Chapter brings together leaders from Placer, El Dorado, Sacramento, Northern Solano and Yolo counties. The American Leadership Forum’s Board of Directors selects 22 – 26 ethnically, geographically and professionally diverse candidates to participate in a yearlong program. Those selected, called Fellows, represent a cross section of our community’s leaders who work in the public, private and non-profit sectors. During monthly meetings, Fellows explore the complex challenges facing the region. The Fellows ultimately improve our region by applying these lessons to real and difficult situations. Senior Fellows gathered at Cache Creek Casino Resort this weekend for our 2026 Senior Fellows Retreat, focused on Adaptive Leadership.

Throughout the retreat, Fellows explored adaptive leadership while also having time to reconnect with people across the ALF-MVC network. It was a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and meet Senior Fellows they hadn’t had the chance to connect with before.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the time together so enjoyable. We also want to thank our facilitators, Marc Ross Manashil and Rangineh Azimzadeh Tehrani, for leading us through the weekend’s Adaptive Leadership program.

On November 6, we gather for ALF-MVC’s 2026 Exemplary Leaders Awards Dinner & 30th Anniversary Celebration, presented by Western Health Advantage, to honor three remarkable leaders who make a lasting impact across our region: Kristen Martin, Lydia Ramirez, and Randy Sater.

This year, we’re also proud to present a special Legacy Award to Todd Vogel, whose presence on the mountain has been a constant since ALF-MVC’s beginning. For 30 years, Todd has helped make that shared experience of challenge and transformation possible for generations of Fellows.

Join us as we celebrate 30 years of ALF-MVC, recognize extraordinary leadership, and look ahead to the connections and impact still to come.

Placer County Senior Fellows gathered at Brookfield’s this morning for breakfast and a special surprise to celebrate Ken Larson, Class V!

For years, Ken has consistently brought Placer Fellows together, creating space for conversation and community. This morning, we got to show up for Ken the way he has always shown up for us.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our All Access Welcome Reception. It was an honor to welcome Dr. Torence Powell, Ed.D., Chancellor of the Los Rios Community College District, and Lora Anguay, CEO & General Manager of SMUD, as they begin their new leadership roles in our region.

What an unforgettable day at the 2026 ALF-MVC Summer Party!☀️

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an evening of great food, live music, laughter, and connection. Celebrating 30 years of leadership and regional impact with our incredible ALF community made this year’s Summer Party one to remember.

A special thank you to our gracious hosts, Renee and Owen Taylor, for opening your beautiful home and making everyone feel so welcome.

What a wonderful evening celebrating the newest members of Classes ###II and ###III. It was a pleasure to welcome them into the ALF-MVC network and mark the beginning of a journey that will challenge, inspire, and connect them with leaders from across our region. We look forward to all that lies ahead for these remarkable Fellows!

Last Thursday, ALF Fellows gathered at PBS KVIE for a special 30th Anniversary event: Leading Change in the Age of AI.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an afternoon of conversation and reflection on how we lead through one of the most rapidly evolving moments of our time.

A special thank you to our speakers, Mohammad Anwar and Frank Danna from Softway, who traveled from Houston to be with us. These ALF-Houston Senior Fellows challenged us to think more deeply about leadership and humanity in an AI-driven world. As AI continues to reshape the way we work and live, conversations like these remind us that technology is only as powerful as the people guiding it.

We’re also grateful to PBS KVIE for hosting us and to Boeger Winery for sponsoring the w**e at the reception that followed.

Leadership isn’t about choosing between people and technology. It’s about bringing leaders together to ensure these tools are used thoughtfully and for good.
