American Leadership Forum - Mountain Valley Chapter

American Leadership Forum - Mountain Valley Chapter The American Leadership Forum is dedicated to joining and strengthening leaders for the greater public good of our region. www.alf-mvc.org

Since 1981, the American Leadership Forum, a national non-profit organization, has dedicated its work to revitalizing leadership within communities across the nation. Established in 1997, the Mountain Valley Chapter brings together leaders from Placer, El Dorado, Sacramento, Northern Solano and Yolo counties. The American Leadership Forum’s Board of Directors selects 22 – 26 ethnically, geographi

cally and professionally diverse candidates to participate in a yearlong program. Those selected, called Fellows, represent a cross section of our community’s leaders who work in the public, private and non-profit sectors. During monthly meetings, Fellows explore the complex challenges facing the region. The Fellows ultimately improve our region by applying these lessons to real and difficult situations. Visit our website to learn about our First-Year Fellows Program.

Last Thursday, ALF Fellows gathered at PBS KVIE for a special 30th Anniversary event: Leading Change in the Age of AI.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an afternoon of conversation and reflection on how we lead through one of the most rapidly evolving moments of our time.

A special thank you to our speakers, Mohammad Anwar and Frank Danna from Softway, who traveled from Houston to be with us. These ALF-Houston Senior Fellows challenged us to think more deeply about leadership and humanity in an AI-driven world. As AI continues to reshape the way we work and live, conversations like these remind us that technology is only as powerful as the people guiding it.

We’re also grateful to PBS KVIE for hosting us and to Boeger Winery for sponsoring the wine at the reception that followed.

Leadership isn’t about choosing between people and technology. It’s about bringing leaders together to ensure these tools are used thoughtfully and for good.

Thank you for being part of the conversation.

Class ### and Class ###I celebrated becoming the newest ALF-MVC Senior Fellows this week, and it was an incredible evening.

The room was filled with classmates, family, friends, and Senior Fellows all coming together to celebrate a year of growth, connection, and shared experiences. It was a great turnout and a meaningful reminder of the kind of leadership community that continues to grow through ALF-MVC.

We are so proud of these two classes and everything they brought to this journey. Congratulations to the newest ALF-MVC Senior Fellows — we can’t wait to see how you continue to lead and impact our region.

ALF-MVC, along with Nehemiah Leadership, Cresciente Leadership, and Catalyst Leadership—three emerging leader programs—continued an important conversation on Generational Leadership. This dialogue was first sparked in October by Doni Blumenstock, Scott Syphax, Faith Whitmore, and Cassandra Pye, and due to the strong interest and engagement, we chose to continue the conversation.

Facilitated by Katie McCleary and Nicholas Miller, this gathering built on that foundation—exploring how leadership is evolving across generations, how we navigate transition with intention, and how we remain coachable while lifting the next generation forward.

It was powerful to have leaders from across experiences, sectors, and stages of leadership in the same room, learning from one another and engaging in meaningful dialogue.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, participated fully, and helped make the conversation impactful. We look forward to continuing the dialogue ahead.
